THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"We moved, on the next day, crossing in our path a deep creek and the Little Seneca river, and after marching six miles we reached the castle, which consisted of 128 houses, mostly very large and elegant. The town was beautifully situated, almost encircled with a clear flat which extends for a number of miles, where the most extensive fields of corn were, and every kind of vegetable that can be conceived. The whole army was immediately engaged in destroying the crops. The corn was collected and burned in houses and kilns, that the enemy might not reap the least advantage from it, which method we have pursued in every other place... Every creek and river has been traced, and the whole country explored in search of Indian settlements; and I am well persuaded, that, except one... there is not a single town left in the country of the five nations." -- General John Sullivan 1779

Hate PLC

A mere few days after the British government vowed to wire millions of pounds to the CST, the number of ‘anti Semitic incidents’ rose by 30% to over 100 incidents a month. The results, at least according to the CST’s statistics, are that the more public money is allocated to fight anti Semitism, the more anti Semitic the Brits become.

If this is the case, the cure for British anti Semitism may be within reach – to fight anti Semitism, deprive the CST and similar organisations of taxpayers’ money!

U.S. Backs War As UN Agencies Make Urgent Plea To End 'World's Largest Humanitarian Crisis'

In a joint statement released Wednesday, the United Nations’ top relief agencies urged the international community to help provide humanitarian aid to Yemen, where a major cholera outbreak has been spreading rapidly since April.

As UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Food Program (WFP) reported following a trip to the war-ravaged country, nearly 1,900 people have died in the past three months, and 400,000 cases of suspected cholera have been recorded.

Iran poised to launch rocket into space, as North Korea readies another missile test, US officials say

Two enemies of America are poised for upcoming rocket launches, two senior U.S. officials told Fox News, with another North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile launch expected as soon as Wednesday night and Iran on the verge of sending its own vehicle into space.

Iran's Simorgh space-launch vehicle is believed to be carrying a satellite, marking the second time in more than a year that Tehran has attempted to put an operational satellite into orbit -- something the Islamic Republic has never done successfully, according to one of the officials who has not authorized to discuss a confidential assessment.

Iran's last space launch in April 2016 failed to place a satellite into orbit, the official said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note the conspiratorial tone of the article, as though there is a "linkage" between North Korea and Iran, because "North Korea and Iran have long been accused of sharing missile technology", an accusation which cannot be proven at this point.

Iran absolutely should NOT be looked at as an enemy; this is only happening because Israel sees it as an "existential threat" whose current government must, ultimately, be wiped off the face of the earth (using only American blood and American money, of course!).

Were it not for this poisonous sentiment, taken from a completely overblown, and thoroughly disingenuous representation of Iran's regional "threat" by Israel's government to that of the government of the US, Iran would be a natural trading partner for the US.

The IAEA has stated that Iran is in absolute, full compliance of the P5+1 accord.

The sanctions placed against Iran are stupid, counterproductive, and punitive; punishing Iran for doing something (like developing defensive missiles, which was NEVER a part of the P5+1 agreement) is not a way to get the country back to the negotiating table on other issues.

The sanctions placed against North Korea are about the same, and will only hasten that country's development of a guided, steerable nuclear device, which can get to where it is aiming.

Sometimes, I look at what the Federal government is doing and it (very painfully) reminds me; just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could be doing, is utterly no guarantee that it will not do it!!

Top U.S. Military Officer Says Transgender Soldier Policy Won't Change – Yet

This Marine is insubordinate. It isn't up to Dunford or Mattis. They have been given the Order by the President and refuses to carry it out.

(WASHINGTON) — The nation's top military officer says U.S. policy on transgender individuals serving in uniform has not — and will not — change until Defense Secretary Jim Mattis receives the president's policy direction and Mattis determines how to implement it.

Gen. Joseph Dunford is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Dunford made the statement in a note Thursday to all service chiefs, commanders and enlisted military leaders.

The Associated Press obtained a copy of the note.

Wasserman Schultz IT Guy Threatened Kidnappings For Cash, Court Docs Say

A former congressional information technology (IT) aide allegedly threatened to have his stepmother’s Pakistani relatives kidnapped if she talked to U.S. law enforcement authorities, according to court documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s (TheDCNF) Investigative Group.

“Imran Awan threatened that he is very powerful and if I ever call the police again, [he] will … kidnap my family members back in Pakistan,” Awan’s stepmother, Samina Gilani, claimed in the documents filed April 14 in Fairfax County, Va., in the case of Americo Financial Life and Annuity Insurance Company v. Abid A. Awan and Samina Ashraf Gilani.

Imran Awan and his brothers Abid and Jamal are under criminal investigation by U.S. Capitol Police on suspicion they abused their administrator-level access to sensitive congressional data, as reported Feb. 4 by TheDCNF.

Meet Tally: The Grocery Stocking Robot About To Eradicate 1,000's Of Minimum Wage Jobs

Amazon wiped out billions of dollars worth of grocery store market cap last month when they announced plans to purchase Whole Foods. The announcement sent shares of Kroger, Wal-Mart, Sprouts, and Target, among others, plunging... (WMT -4%, TGT -5.5%, SFM -7.6%, KR -12%).

But, as we pointed out back in May, well before Amazon's decision to buy Whole Foods, Amazon's success in penetrating the traditional grocery market was always a matter of when, not if. Concept stores, like Amazon Go, already exist that virtually eliminate the need for dozens of in-store employees which will allow them to generate higher returns at lower price points than traditional grocers. And, with grocery margins averaging around 1-2% at best, if Amazon, or anyone for that matter, can truly create smart stores with no check outs and cut employees in half they can effectively destroy the traditional supermarket business model.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With retail, manufacturing, and other traditional jobs becoming so automated, it is critical to give people an education for jobs which will actually exist when they graduate from high school and/or college.

What's The Matter With Democrats? Thomas Frank Explains

In the last decade, the Democratic Party lost the White House, Congress, most governorships and hundreds of legislative seats. As the 2018 election approaches, author Thomas Frank argues that the party has made a catastrophic mistake by coddling big money and disavowing its New Deal roots.

America’s BDS Law: Attack on Far More than Free Speech

But the efforts to stymie boycott efforts in the United States and elsewhere — similar legislation has popped up in Europe — are far more sinister than just restricting the free speech and political expression of American and other supporters of Palestinians. Its true purpose is to block one of the few remaining legitimate, nonviolent tactics Palestinians have for achieving national self-determination and individual rights.

When the Israeli government and its supporters (the Senate bill is being promoted by AIPAC) attempt to delegitimize the Palestinian-led boycott — a political and economic pressure tactic well within the normative democratic toolbox — they are actually saying that Palestinians do not have the same political rights as others with regards to individual political expression, but more importantly, the right to national self-determination.

The French Government Tried To Build A Migrant Shelter In This Small Town – Residents Responded By Building A Wall Around It

When most people consider how many migrants have entered Europe in recent years, they probably assume that the whole continent is a beacon of tolerance and love for foreigners who are seeking a better way of life. But a more accurate picture of Europe would suggest that the only thing most Europeans are tolerant of, is their corrupt governments who aren’t willing to close the borders. That tolerance is quickly wearing thin however, as most Westerners reject the migrants, who are burdening the social fabric of their communities.

Which would explain a recent incident in the French town of Séméac, where the government recently bought a hotel in the hopes of turning it into a migrant shelter.

Watch: Tucker Carlson And Tulsi Gabbard Breakdown Trump’s Decision To Stop Arming Al Qaeda In Syria

The United States’ foreign policy in Syria will likely go down in history as the most hypocritical policy ever enforced by our government. After 9/11 the US government eviscerated our privacy rights, militarized our law enforcement agencies, groped us at the airport, and waged multiple wars that cost thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars, all in the name of fighting terrorism. Then when the Syrian Civil War erupted, our government turned around and began arming self-proclaimed Al-Qaeda terrorists in the region, and called them “freedom fighters.”

Fortunately this utterly stupid covert program was ended by Donald Trump last week. The media responded by saying that Trump had leaked state secrets by admitting the program exists (though pretty much anyone who bothered to research the subject has known it was real for years), and that he was appeasing Russia by ending the program.

Secretive Saturn: New Cassini Data Upends Existing Theories About Planet

Planets also have a rotational axis — an invisible line on which the planet's orbit hinges. For Earth, that axis runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, but since the poles move around some, Earth's axis has a slight "tilt" to it, a wobbling which helps move things throughout the planet's interior. This is a good thing, as it prevents the molten iron from settling within Earth, which would eventually strip us of our homeworld's magnetic field and atmosphere.

But Saturn's tilt and its rotational axis are almost identical, according to Cassini's new data. Scientists had previously estimated that Saturn's tilt was no less than 0.06 degrees, but they found the tilt level to be much lower than that. Which then raises a major question: why does Saturn still have an atmosphere and a magnetic field?

Trump urged to use recess appointment to replace Sessions -- is that possible?

Is President Donald Trump trying to force out Jeff Sessions as attorney general so he can "recess appoint" someone to the job who would fire Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Mueller?

Sources familiar with the President's thinking tell CNN that he is being urged by some associates that a recess appointment is an option worth pursuing in order to avoid a messy confirmation process in the short term.
Although there are multiple political and procedural road blocks, the theory, if he could find a way to pull it off, would be to install a new attorney general while the Senate is in recess, which would allow that person to stay in place through 2018.

US Nukes in Turkey Not Secure, Former US Defense Officials Say

Ex-Pentagon officials have called for the US to pull its nuclear weapons from Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base as tensions linger between Washington and Ankara.
Joseph Cirincione, president of the nonproliferation and anti-war Ploughshares Fund nonprofit, told Stars and Stripes that the Turkish base was the "worst place possible to be keeping"roughly 50 of Washington’s nukes.

A Turkish special forces policeman stands guard in front the damaged building of the police headquarters which was attacked by the Turkish warplanes during the failed military coup last Friday, in Ankara, Turkey, Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Cirincione said there are B61 gravity bombs stored at Incirlik, the maximum yield of which has 10 times the power of the bomb Washington dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.

Officials have also suggested relocating the 2,500 US troops currently housed at the base.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The questions are, how will the US get these nuclear weapons out of Turkey, if Erdogan refuses to return physical custody of those weapons to the US government?!?

And will Erdogan allow the 2500 US military on this base to leave?!?

Erdogan is going to demand some kind of "quid pro quo" for these steps to be taken, and they may well involve repatriating the Imam Gulen from the United States to Turkey, as Erdogan believes this man was complicit in the failed coup of last year.

CIA Gives More Power to Spies to Bolster Intelligence Operations. Pompeo: China, not Russia, poses greatest long-term threat

U.S. Faces Growing Threats From China, North Korea

Over the longer term, however, Pompeo singled out China as the most serious security challenge.

While China, Russia, and Iran all are expected to pose significant problems in the future, China is a greater threat because of its robust economy and growing military power—both aimed against the United States.

"I think China has the capacity to present the greatest rivalry to America of any of those over the medium and long term," he said.

China's military is building up forces that are aimed at countering U.S. power projection around the world, he said.

"So you see that, whether it's going on in the South China or East China Sea, or the work they're doing in other parts of the world," Pompeo said.

In acquiring foreign technology, he noted: "If you look at them, they are probably trying either to steal our stuff, or make sure they can defeat it. And most often, both."

Webmaster's Commentary:

China's burgeoning economy, and its ability to make things people want to actually buy, is definitely a problem for the US government; please remember that the iphone...is made in China.

China's weaponry is on point to match, or exceed the capabilities of US-made weaponry, because the culture of the military/industrial complex in this country has become decadent, to the point where CEOS of the companies making our weapons, planes, and ships, believe it is perfectly acceptable to deliver products so late as to be obsolete by the time they are field-tested; to deliver products which absolutely cannot perform as advertised (think: Lockheed Martin's F-35), and have cost overruns which make the budgets for these items wildly out of control.

IF we are going to have a tiny chance to defeat the Chinese in military combat, which may well be coming, to attempt to destroy the yuan, this has to change.

As those of you who read this blog understand, I detest war as a method of resolving geopolitical conflicts; that being said, when our military is tasked with being at war, they deserve the best the military/industrial complex can provide.

And right now, they are not getting that, and not by a long shot.

This Miner’s $190 Billion Tax Bill Would Take Centuries to Pay

Tanzania sent Acacia Mining Plc a tax bill equal to almost two centuries worth of the gold producer’s revenue.

The government issued the company, which mines all of its gold in the African country, with a $40 billion tax bill and another $150 billion in interest and penalties, Acacia said in a statement Monday. The charge covers alleged under-declared export revenues from the Bulyanhulu and Buzwagi mines over periods between 2000 and 2017.

Acacia reiterated that it has fully declared all revenues.

100,000 PAGES OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY SECRETS GATHERED DUST IN AN OREGON BARN FOR DECADES — UNTIL NOW

FOR DECADES, SOME of the dirtiest, darkest secrets of the chemical industry have been kept in Carol Van Strum’s barn. Creaky, damp, and prowled by the occasional black bear, the listing, 80-year-old structure in rural Oregon housed more than 100,000 pages of documents obtained through legal discovery in lawsuits against Dow, Monsanto, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Forest Service, the Air Force, and pulp and paper companies, among others.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government doesn't give a damn about individual citizens, and the quality of their health; they are only concerned about the bottom lines of major corporations, which give copious amounts of money to fund political campaigns to get candidates elected, and re-elected.

Those candidates then proceed to protect these corporations from any possible hint of wrong-doing, and make it their business that no harm comes to them, no matter the horrific price paid by individuals who have been severely injured by their products.

DNA of human embryos edited for 1st time in US – report

A team of researchers in Oregon have become the first to attempt to create genetically modified human embryos in the United States. The team reportedly demonstrated they could eliminate diseases in offspring with CRISPR.

Led by Shoukhrat Mitalipov, a team of scientists at the Oregon Health and Science University used the CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology to alter human DNA in single-cell embryos, according to a report published Wednesday on the MIT Technology Review.

“So far as I know, this will be the first study reported in the US,” Jun Wu, a collaborator at the Salk Institute, told the MIT Technology Review.

Anti-White journalist Jonathan Freedland has written a thinly veiled assassination fantasy targeting Donald Trump.

The British-Jewish journalist, infamous for hailing the demographic eclipse of the British people in their own homeland as “a kind of triumph,” has devoted the last twelve months of his miserable journalistic life to neurotic attacks on the Trump presidency. His hyperbolic writings at the Guardian, while making little original contribution to the intellectual debate over the progress of the Trump administration, have instead revealed much about the paranoid preoccupations of Freedland, the Left, and elements of the organized Jewish community.

The Irish Crimean: Mammon and Analyzing Western Nihilism

As an approach to analyzing western nihilism, this point will probably seem completely obvious to most of you, but precisely because it's so obvious, we sometimes overlook its importance:

One of the great failings of western ideology, which distinguishes western civilization from all previous civilizations, is that, in the west, material prosperity and progress are pursued for their own sake rather than as a condition for other kinds of social "good."

If you had asked the rulers of the Mughal Empire or of Han Dynasty China "Do you want your people to be materially prosperous?", then they would have answered "Of course!"

THERE IS SIMPLY NO SCIENTIFIC BACKING FOR TSA'S BEHAVIORAL DETECTION PROGRAM

The Government Accountability Office has taken a run at the TSA's Behavioral Detection program in the past. Its findings were far from complimentary. Specially-trained "Behavior Detection Officers" (BDOs) were basically human coin flips. Deciding whether or not someone was a threat came down to a lot of subjective readings of human behavior, rather than proven principles.

In response to this report, the TSA started trimming back the number of BDOs it deployed, converting about 500 of them back into regular TSA officers. But the TSA still believed there was something to its pseudoscience patchwork, so it's still sending out 2,600 BDOs to covertly stare at travelers' throats and eyes (no, really) until terrorism reveals itself.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The TSA (read: Travel Suppression Agency) does not exist to get the "bad guys"; time and time again, it has proven incapable of detecting fake bombs or weapons which got aboard planes.

It exists to cow, and humiliate, innocent passengers, whose only "crime" is needing to get from one place to another, with at least some of their dignity in tact.

It is a clever way to employ people incapable of getting a job at a fast-food joint, who love to grope, embarrass, and humiliate people, particularly if they have medical issues, and get paid for it.

Bitcoin SCAM warning: Currency is ‘pyramid scheme’ says top investor who predicted crash

CRYPTOCURRENCY Bitcoin is a nothing more than a fad or pyramid scheme style scam, according to billionaire investor Howard Marks.

...

He told clients: "In my view, digital currencies are nothing but an unfounded fad (or perhaps even a pyramid scheme), based on a willingness to ascribe value to something that has little or none beyond what people will pay for it."

The investor compared cryptocurrencies to the Tulip mania of 1637, the South Sea bubble of 1720 and the internet bubble of 1999.

He added: "Serious investing consists of buying things because the price is attractive relative to intrinsic value.

"Speculation, on the other hand, occurs when people buy something without any consideration of its underlying value or the appropriateness of its price."

CIA ABILITY TO TROJAN APPLE OS EXPOSED IN LATEST HACKING RELEASE

‘Achilles’ is detailed by WikiLeaks in a statement as producing one or more operators to access an OS X disk image, and execute operations one time. The OS X disk image contains the contents and structure of the device’s storage.

Intel Core 2 Processor and OS X are required on the target's computer for ‘Achilles’ to operate, according to a user guide.

‘Imperial’ is part of a series by the whistleblowers named ‘Vault 7’ which began in March and has seen releases from WikiLeaks on an almost weekly basis.

WikiLeaks claims the leaks, which detail hacking exploits, come from a computer within the CIA, who would not comment on their alleged origin.

Also detailed in ‘Imperial’ is ‘SeaPea’ which targets Apple devices, providing stealth and tool-launching capabilities to the OS X Rootkit. Running on Mac OSX 10.6 and 10.7 it hides files and directories, socket connections and processes, according to WikiLeaks.

Netanyahu's dangerous delusion

The Israeli right no longer bothers to conceal its abhorrence of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would provide the Palestinians with an independent state alongside Israel. It also rejects a one man, one vote solution, the fundamental principle of democratic rule, for one binational state between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. Instead, the right boasts of its ability to manage the conflict with reasonable or negligible cost to Israel’s diplomacy, security or economy. It argues that Israel can manage quite well without resolving the conflict and by accelerating development of its settlements on occupied Palestinian territory.

US Congress following Israeli anti-Iran agenda: Pundit

The US House of Representatives has voted overwhelmingly to impose new sanctions against Iran. The lower chamber of Congress approved the bill on Tuesday. The move came days after the Donald Trump administration certified, for the second time, to Congress that Iran was in compliance of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers.

Press TV has interviewed Scott Rickard, a political analyst and former American intelligence linguist from Tampa, Florida, and Jim Walsh, a research associate with MIT Security Studies Program at Massachusetts Institute from Boston, for their thoughts about the imposition of new sanctions against Iran.

Rickard lashed out at US lawmakers, saying the financial backers of the congressmen are forcing them to approve anti-Iran bills.

FIRST HUMAN EMBRYOS EDITED IN U.S.

Until now, American scientists have watched with a combination of awe, envy, and some alarm as scientists elsewhere were first to explore the controversial practice. To date, three previous reports of editing human embryos were all published by scientists in China.

Now Mitalipov is believed to have broken new ground both in the number of embryos experimented upon and by demonstrating that it is possible to safely and efficiently correct defective genes that cause inherited diseases.

Although none of the embryos were allowed to develop for more than a few days—and there was never any intention of implanting them into a womb—the experiments are a milestone on what may prove to be an inevitable journey toward the birth of the first genetically modified humans.

THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS UNDERMINING US NATIONAL SECURITY

The ongoing problems with the F-35 and other military programs, stemming from virtually unlimited budgets, underline the inefficiency of the American military-industrial complex (MIC). In contrast, Moscow develops armaments capable of counteracting the latest technological advances of the US at minimal cost.

One of a state’s most insidious mechanisms is the inefficiency of the military-industrial sector. When looking at the world's first superpower, this becomes all the more pronounced. Still, the ongoing problems highlighted by the F-35 program and failed missile interceptions by ABM systems are a good demonstration of how inefficiency in the US military sector has risen to worrying levels.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This culture of waste, and a complete lack of meritocracy, on such a massive scale, must be dealt with.

For far too long, the US military has put up with equipment which is delivered so late as to be obsolete; does not perform as advertised; and is riddled with massive cost overruns.

President Trump needs to change this; there need to be stringent checks in place to prevent this from continuing, including jailing executives of companies which fail to deliver working, cost-contained, and state-of-the-art weapons for our military.

As draconian as this sounds, it would definitely be a move which would change the culture of this industry forever in this country.

But of course, this will only change when pigs fly; the military industrial complex owns this government, covertly and overtly, and they know it.

This is why the next major war in which the US government and military is involved will most probably be a war it cannot win.

Antidepressants linked to murders and murderous thoughts

Antidepressants have been linked to 28 reports of murder and 32 cases of murderous thoughts, in cases referred to the UK medicines regulator over the past 30 years, a BBC investigation has discovered.

The pills, known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) which includes common drugs like Prozac and Seroxat, are prescribed 40 million times each year in Britain.

But an Freedom of Information request for BBC Panorama discovered that the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency had received 60 reports of murders or murderous thoughts linked to the drugs in the past three decades.

Professor Peter Tyrer, a psychiatrist at Imperial College London, has been assessing the performance of SSRIs since they were first introduced in the 1980s.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How in the name of heaven can the statement be made:

"Although the link between murders and antidepressants in cases referred to the MHRA do not mean the drugs caused the events..."?!?

There is obviously a causal relationship between these drugs and what happened to the people who exhibited this behaviour, period, end of discussion.

Of course, the pharmaceutical houses growing fat off the prescriptions of these drugs (and many times, doctors who write these prescriptions get compensated by the drug manufacturers as well) don't want the general public knowing about these horrific side effects; but they need to.

And if you want a resource for a dossier on the negative effects which happened to people on SSRIS, you need go no further than that following website:

THE TOXIC FRUIT OF FINANCIALIZATION: RISK IS FOR THOSE AT THE BOTTOM

Those who have pushed the risk down the wealth-power pyramid are confident the Federal Reserve will continue to limit the risks of speculative financialization.

One of the most pernicious consequences of financialization is the shifting of risk from the top of the wealth-power pyramid to the bottom: those who benefit the most from financialization's leveraged, speculative credit bubbles protect themselves from losses while those at the bottom of the pyramid (the bottom 99.5%) face the full fury of financialization's formidable risk.

Longtime correspondent Chad D. and I recently exchanged emails exploring how the higher debt loads and higher interest payments of financialization inhibits people at the bottom of the wealth-power pyramid (i.e. debt-serfs) from taking risks such as starting a small business.

Congress Wants to Start a War with Russia Using Senate Bill 722

Would the new bill that the Senate has quietly passed actually remove executive powers from the President and start a war with Russia?
