Kiwi scientists to make Star Trek gadget a reality

A handheld gadget used to scan for diseases in the sci-fi series Star Trek could soon become reality, with a new Kiwi study targeting our high rates of skin cancer.

In New Zealand, where skin cancer rates are four times that of the UK and US, one person dies from the disease each day on average.

While five-year survival rates for patients diagnosed early was around 98 per cent, this dropped sharply to just 16 per cent for advanced cases, making early diagnosis critical.

A group of researchers have now conceived a smarter, faster way to diagnose suspicious lesions.

The team of doctors and scientists will work together in the University of Auckland's Photon Factory and in clinics like Middlemore Hospital's See and Treat to create a new device, based on a combination of advanced photonics and sophisticated data analysis.

Abstract

Countless studies showed that [60]fullerene (C60) and derivatives could have many potential biomedical applications. However, while several independent research groups showed that C60 has no acute or sub-acute toxicity in various experimental models, more than 25 years after its discovery the in vivo fate and the chronic effects of this fullerene remain unknown. ...

(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday backed having companies from the United States develop Afghanistan’s reserves of rare earth minerals, despite formidable obstacles to industrial mining in the country.

The comments, at a meeting in New York, were the latest in a series in which both U.S. officials and the Afghan government have emphasized the potential strategic value of Afghanistan’s vast and largely untapped mineral reserves.

A devastating new food weaponization technology has been developed called “RNA interference.” This technology, initially rolled out to destroy the fertility of pests, could easily be expanded into a genocidal food-based weapon that targets African-Americans to destroy their fertility. The same technology could also be fine-tuned to target Whites, Latinos, Asians or other races with various “biological payloads” that could include shutting off their fertility, neurological function or ability to build new blood vessels, eventually leading to death.

Acute Flaccid Paralysis Outbreak In Germany

The disease situation for Europe and the US is quite serious.

Vaccine Law removed liability just as "Vaccination" Surreptitiously Changed to "Genetic Engineering"

The World Health Organization, run by the Rockefellers, admits something big happened to vaccines.

DNA vaccines
"Vaccination consists of stimulating the immune system with an infectious agent, or components of an infectious agent, modified in such a manner that no harm or disease is caused, but ensuring that when the host is confronted with that infectious agent, the immune system can adequately neutralize it before it causes any ill effect. ....

"Recently, a radically new approach to vaccination has been developed ...."

That's DNA vaccines. That's vaccines that alter people's DNA. Or put more bluntly put, that is vaccines that genetically engineer people by altering their DNA.

The name - "vaccination" - remained the same, but the technology drastically changed, with no word to doctors or the public that the vaccines were now altering DNA

And DNA vaccines have never been approved for use in human beings.

COSMETIC SURGERY ROGUE OPERATORS: HEALTH MINISTER CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION

A Crash Course in Preparedness: Week 2: Medicine, Sanitation, and Surviving Disaster Diseases, by Tess Pennington

This Crash Course To Preparedness guide is the second in a series of four. You can view Week 1 here: A Crash Course in Preparedness – Week 1 – The Survival Basics

Welcome back to week 2 in our Crash Course into Preparedness. Last week we discussed the basics of survival and gear needed for a short-lived event. One of the comments from last week’s class mentioned that it isn’t hard to prepare, you just have to start. I couldn’t agree more! My only addition I would make to this comment is in order to start you must prioritize your needs and know what you’re planning for. This week, we are taking the same concept from last week – prioritizing, planning and preparing to another facet of disaster planning and highlighting the more dirty side of preparedness – medical and sanitation needs.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please read chapters one and two, and either forward, or print this out, for people you care about; a little bit of understanding of what you will need in an emergency, may, seriously, be the difference between life and death.

And please remember; the folks living through the storms in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico who were NOT eating out of dumpsters, were the preppers!!

Florida Residents Warned They'll Be Ticketed For Hurricane-Damaged Homes

At a time when South Floridians rocked by Hurricane Irma were still surveying the damage to their properties, the county of Miami-Dade apparently thought it appropriate to begin handing out safety notices.

Celso Perez told local WSVN-TV that he, his family, and his neighbors were starting to clear fallen trees from the streets after the storm passed through at nine in the morning on Monday. Hours later, in the afternoon, Perez got a visit from the county.

“And we thought he was here to help us or offer some type of assistance with the trees, maybe he was going to bring us ice or something,” Perez told WSVN. Instead, the official slapped a safety notice on the only part of Perez’s fence still standing.

“I laughed,” he said. “I thought he was kidding. ‘You are kidding right? We just had a hurricane six hours ago.’ ‘No, I’m not kidding. I have to cite you for this.’ I just laughed. OK, whatever; knock yourself out!”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Holovision Kickstarter “scam”

The concept imagery associated with the Kickstarter project presents this feasible technology in a way that (intentionally?) taps into people’s misconceptions about holograms (and I’m talking about the “real” kind of holograms, those involving lasers and mirrors and beam splitters). In other words, it might not be a scam per se, and it might even be unintentional, but it is definitely creating a false impression that might lead to very disappointed backers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am amazed at how many people love to use the word "hologram" without really knowing how holography works. It doesn't help that the name has been applied to 3D projection techniques that are not technically holographic. This is important because certain parties trying to muddy the issue of 9-11 have suggested that there were no planes, not only at the Pentagon, but at the World Trade Towers themselves, and that we were all seeing "holograms" of airplanes.

This is what comes from watching too much science fiction and thinking the visual effects represent something real!

The process of making a hologram in its simplest form involves taking a laser beam and splitting it into two beams. Both beams go through concave lenses to spread them out. One beam falls onto a high density photographic plate. This is the reference beam. The other laser beam is shone on the object to be captured in the hologram and that reflected light interacts with the reference beam at the photographic plate to form an interference pattern. That photographic plate is the hologram. After the holographic plate is developed, a light shone on the plate will be diffracted by the interference pattern to reconstruct the image of the object.

Here is the important part. To see the reconstructed image, you must be looking at or through the hologram plate; quite a trick to cover lower Manhattan, especially for an animated image!

If you shine a single point light on the plate, it will project the reconstructed image as seen from that one point, but it will not appear 3 dimensional, and it will appear exactly the same for everyone viewing it. That is, it will not behave like a 3 dimensional object as you move around.

For a projection to work, there must be something to project onto, and as this article confirms, the idea that holograms can project an image into empty air is simply science fiction.

Here is the important part. No holographic image, whether projected or looking at/through the holographic plate, can block the background. If there is light coming from the rear, it will be seen right through the holographic image, which is why holograms (like projected motion pictures) are best shown in darkened environments.

Looking at the numerous photos/videos of the 9-11 planes at the World Trade Towers, it is clear that ones does NOT see either sky nor buildings through the planes, hence they cannot be projections, holographic or otherwise.

Will Opioid Lawsuits By County Officials Against Big Pharma Set Legal Precedent To Sue Vaccine Makers?

The reason for the lawsuit is the amount of money Delaware County had, and has, to pay for all types of services rendered and other expenses due to opioid drug abuses...

Marijuana prevents people from doing ‘hard’ drugs, claims study

Cannabis might still be illegal in the UK, but new research has found that the leafy substance might not be the vilified "gateway drug" it’s widely thought to be.

In fact, in might be the key to discouraging users from progressing to "harder" drugs, such as cocaine and ecstasy, claim scientists at the University of New Mexico.

The five-year-long study involved 125 participants, all of whom were suffering from chronic pain.

83 were taking cannabis as a prescriptive pain mediator, whereas 42 chose to abstain.

They found that 34 per cent of the cannabis users stopped taking their medication, in comparison to just two per cent of the non-smokers, with 98 per cent continuing to take their prescribed drugs.

At 5 a.m. Friday, Hurricane Maria is about 35 miles ENE of Grand Turk Island. It remains a Category 3 hurricane.

At 8 a.m., Hurricane Maria is about 30 miles NNE of Grand Turk Island. Hurricane conditions are occurring on the Turks and Caicos Islands this morning.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160miles. This would keep Maria far east of Florida. Maria is expected to slow down and gradually weaken in the western Atlantic Ocean early next week due to shear and cooler waters.

Swells from Maria are expected to begin reaching the coast of the southeastern United States today. These swells will cause dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents along the east coast for the next several days even though Maria is forecast to remain well offshore over the western Atlantic Ocean.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends this vaccine for all 11- and 12-year-old girls. Starting in 2010, the CDC began recommending it for all 11- and 12-year-old boys, too. Why? Because the vaccine protects against two particularly virulent strains of HPV: serotypes 16 and 18, the ones that cause most kinds of cervical cancer. Type 16 also causes half the cases of oropharyngeal cancer (cancer of the mid-throat, palate, tongue, and tonsils). And a recent study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology found that by 2020, HPV is actually likely to cause more oropharyngeal cancers than cervical cancers in the United States.

SCIENCE FOR SALE: SHOCKING EMAILS REVEAL EDITOR OF FOOD SCIENCE JOURNAL WAS ON MONSANTO’S PAYROLL AT $400 PER HOUR

(Natural News) Recently released court documents reveal what many people have long suspected: Monsanto had a hand in the retraction of a groundbreaking study that left little doubt about the dangers of glyphosate in a prominent food science journal.

Monsanto will do anything to protect the reputation of Roundup and its other herbicide products – which earned them $1.9 billion in gross profits in 2015 alone – and that includes silencing their detractors.

It has now emerged that the Editor in Chief of the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology who oversaw the famous study’s retraction was on Monsanto’s payroll. This is a conflict of interest at best, and possibly something far more underhanded, and they might have gotten away with it had their lawyers succeeded in preventing their internal documents from being released in a class action lawsuit filed against the firm by cancer patients.

Scientists edit embryos' genes to study early human development

British scientists have used a genome editing tool known as CRISPR/Cas9 to knock out a gene in embryos just a few days old, testing the technique's ability to decipher key gene functions in early human development.

The researchers said their experiments, using a technology that is the subject of fierce international debate because of fears that it could be used to create babies to order, will deepen understanding of the biology of early human development.

CRISPR/Cas9 can enable scientists to find and modify or replace genetic defects. Many describe it as game-changing.

"One way to find out what a gene does in the developing embryo is to see what happens when it isn't working," said Kathy Niakan, a stem cell scientists who led the research at Britain's Francis Crick Institute.

"Now we have demonstrated an efficient way of doing this, we hope that other scientists will use it to find out the roles of other genes."

Webmaster's Commentary:

My primary concern about this technology is that it may well be used to prevent the birth of people who are "divergent" in their intelligence, and ask too many logical questions which world governments do not want answered, because it would unmask the basis for control of their populations.

Internal watchdog says EPA mismanaging toxic site cleanups

Cleanups at some U.S. hazardous waste sites have stopped or slowed down because the Environmental Protection Agency does not manage its Superfund staff effectively to match its workload, an internal government watchdog said Tuesday.

Such work is at a standstill or moving slowly on at least four Superfund sites where "human exposure is not under control," according to a report from the EPA's inspector general. That means contamination at the sites is unsafe for humans and there is a reasonable expectation that people may be exposed to it, the report said.

The report comes as EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has said the cleanup up of more than 1,300 listed Superfund sites is a priority.

The End Is Nigh

Although the sabre rattling by US political leaders and retired generals is heard daily on the American news programmes, and the American people are clearly being indoctrinated to believe that war might be necessary, America has never been less ready for a war.

The US is a very different country from what it was in 1941. It does possess a sizable military; however, that military is no match for the combined forces of China and Russia. Moreover, the US is not the industrial giant it was in 1941. Its factories have largely closed and moved overseas. What remains is not sufficient for wartime production. The American people as a whole are heavily in debt and the government itself is broke.

By any standard, the actions being taken by the US are therefore reckless indeed. The end of the world is not nigh, but the end of the world as we know it most certainly is.

BOMBSHELL: Flu vaccines don’t work in the elderly, new science shows … U.S. media total blackout

A recent report by Public Health England (PHE), however, has revealed that though it seems to have been slightly more effective at preventing influenza among children than in previous years, last year’s flu shot was totally ineffective for the elderly.

Experts believe that the shot was ineffective because it did not protect against the most common circulating strain – the H3 strain. This is because the flu shot is essentially a game of chance each year; experts have to try to predict in advance which three strains of the virus will be in circulation in the coming winter. Even in a good year, their strike rate is only 50 percent.

Of course, instead of admitting the uselessness of the vaccine, health professionals are blaming the elderly themselves.

Conventional household cleaners can kill you with increased risk of fatal lung disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a life-threatening condition that results in obstructed airflow and difficulty breathing. There are two main illnesses associated with COPD: Chronic bronchitis, which affects more than 10 million Americans, and emphysema, which over 4.7 million Americans have been diagnosed with. While the most common cause of COPD is smoking and second-hand exposure to cigarette smoke, other causes include pollution, toxic fumes, exposure to certain types of dust, and long-term asthma.

Now, a study led by Dr. Orianne Dumas of the French National Institute of Health, has found that certain cleaning chemicals can also dramatically increase the risk of COPD, with bleach fumes, in particular, linked to a staggering 32 percent increase in risk.

‘GM seed choice shouldn’t be dictated’: Italian farmers question EU court ruling on Monsanto corn

Not all Italian farmers welcome a European court ruling this week allowing growers to cultivate genetically-modified corn in Italy. Some farmers told RT that the majority reject GM seeds and question the EU interfering in national laws.

The European Court of Justice on Wednesday ruled in favor of Giorgio Fidenato, an Italian activist farmer who faces fines for growing genetically-modified maize MON 810 on his land in 2014, despite a 2013 government decree banning its cultivation.

In 2013, Italy asked the European Commission to adopt emergency measures prohibiting the planting of the Monsanto-produced seeds in light of new scientific studies carried out by Italian scientists.

Women low in vitamin D found to have an increased risk of multiple sclerosis, claims new study

For their study, Munger and her team evaluated the blood samples of over 800,000 women from Finland, which were taken for the prenatal testing in the Finnish Maternity Cohort. They then identified 1,092 women who developed multiple sclerosis nine years after their blood was tested. These women were compared against 2,123 age-matched study participants who were not diagnosed with the disease.

Of the women who had multiple sclerosis, 58 percent had vitamin D deficiency, while 52 percent of the women who did not develop multiple sclerosis had the same issue . The researchers specified deficient levels of vitamin D as being less than 30 nanomoles per liter (nmol/L).

Moreover, they fond that women who already had a deficiency of vitamin D were 43 percent more like to acquire multiple sclerosis than women who had normal levels of vitamin D (defined as 50 nmol/L or higher), and 27 percent more likely to develop the disease than women with insufficient vitamin D levels.

Annual flu shots linked to increased risk of miscarriage

A study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and published in the journal Vaccines revealed that receiving one particular flu vaccine was associated with an increased risk of early miscarriage.

As part of the study, a team of researchers at the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute in Wisconsin recruited 485 pregnant women aged 18 to 44 who already had a miscarriage during the flu seasons of 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. This group was compared against 485 pregnant women of similar ages who had normal deliveries during the same period.

The results showed that among women who had a miscarriage, 17 received the H1N1 vaccine in the 28 days prior to the incident. These patients also appeared to have been vaccinated before the flu season kick in.

Antidepressants found to be “death pills” that dramatically raise the risk of early death

A study that was conducted by scientists at McMaster University in Canada concluded that antidepressants raised the risk of death among depressed people without a heart disease, to 33 percent, as compared with those who did not regularly take these so-called “medications”.

The researchers analyzed data from 17 previous studies involving almost 380,000 people. The studies showed that people who took antidepressants acquired a greater risk of death by suicide or via other life-threatening issues.

It was not made clear, though, whether the deaths were caused by the antidepressants themselves, or by the depressive symptoms that they were made to treat.

Gregg Jarrett: Sessions should resign, but not before taking action against Clinton, Comey and Rice

Jeff Sessions should never have accepted the position of Attorney General of the United States. His leadership has proven unproductive and ineffectual.

There are two reasons for this.

First, he deceived President Trump by concealing his intent to recuse himself from the federal investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election. Hours after he was sworn in, Sessions began setting his recusal in motion by meeting with Department of Justice officials to discuss stepping aside from the probe. Failing to disclose such a material matter to the president was an egregious betrayal.

Texas carpet bombs its own hurricane-traumatized victims with neurological poisons sprayed from military planes

The war on humanity continues unabated in Texas, where over one million acres of land are being carpet-bombed with the aerial spraying of neurotoxic chemicals in an effort to kill mosquitoes. Texas authorities are openly lying to citizens, claiming these poisons are magically not poisons at all when they come into contact with humans. Even more alarmingly, Texas authorities are urging their citizens to use other toxic chemicals on their skin — chemicals that are part of a binary weapon system that causes Alzheimer’s and dementia by incurring permanent brain damage.

In Catalonia: A Spanish Tiananmen Square?

One of those crises that no one saw coming is about to rear its head in a very unlikely locale: Catalonia, Spain’s richest province, where the local government has scheduled an independence referendum on October 1.

Catalonia has long been a cash cow for the Madrid regime: the province is by far the richest in the country, and contributes much more to the national budget than it receives. With 16 percent of Spain’s population, the region produces 25 percent of the nation’s exports, hosts 23 percent of industry – and receives 11 percent of government expenditures. This essentially parasitic relationship perhaps accounts for the fierce resistance to the secession movement by the rather shaky regime of conservative Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

As hurricanes batter Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, a fiery hell burns on through the night in the western United States. The year 2017 is on pace to be the worst year for forest fires. The two main firefighting agencies, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Department of Interior, have spent more money combating fires than ever before — $2.1 billion so far.

Drought-stricken areas, low humidity, and lightning storms have sparked countless fires in poorly managed federal lands spanning from Oregon to Montana. Western states are using up all their resources to control the blaze and Montana is on the verge of financial demise.

Hurricane Maria approaches Caribbean as major storm while Hurricane Jose brushes Mid-Atlantic coast

A strengthening Hurricane Maria is approaching Caribbean islands still recovering from Hurricane Irma, while Hurricane Jose passes just off of Maryland’s Atlantic coast, bringing dangerous surf.

Hurricane warnings were issued across the Leeward Islands, including in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where relief work to recover from Irma is just beginning. The National Hurricane Center warned Maria “is expected to be a dangerous major hurricane as it moves through the Leeward Islands and the northeastern Caribbean Sea.”

Scientists have found the first direct evidence of a 'hot-zone' feeding the supervolcano.

While the experts are unsure what this means in terms of the scale of a future eruption, they say there is 'no doubt' that the volcano is becoming more dangerous.

Virgil: The Threat from China — America’s New ‘Sputnik Moment’

That is, the U.S. won the space race, and the overall technology race, against Moscow. And yet now we face a new and greater threat—from Beijing. Yes, 60 years after Sputnik, we see that China, with quadruple our population, is on the move. It has plenty of orbiting satellites, of course, as well as a whole class of satellite-killers that we might not be ready for. To top it off, China’s plans to go to Mars, the next place in the space race, are well far along—possibly exceeding those of the U.S.

These strategic Chinese developments are finally getting the attention of the Washington Establishment. Just the other day, two think-tankers at the D.C.-based Center for a New American Security (CNAS), Daniel Kliman and Harry Krejsa, raised a warning in Politico, “Is China leaping past us? With little notice in Washington, Beijing has quietly become an innovation superpower. How should the U.S. respond?”

The government of President Emmanuel Macron, which has been accused of "shameful indifference" over the scandal, said the old version of the drug would be reintroduced in two weeks.

14 Cutting Edge Tech Firms Funded By The CIA

The CIA has its own investment capital firm called “In-Q-Tel,” and it’s been funding innovative tech firms for years. This is both good news and bad. One the one hand, it allows the CIA to invest in technologies they deem useful for the intelligence community; however, some of these technologies are a little creepy when it comes to personal space and privacy. In-Q-Tel has the ability to reach deep into the pockets of the U.S. government’s Black Budget, which is pretty hefty given that the Washington Post reported that a staggering $52.6 billion was set aside for Black Budget operations in fiscal year 2013. If you’re unfamiliar with the Black Budget program, that’s not very surprising; the entire point of the program is to keep these funds and the programs within it top secret.
