US Sanctions Affected Iran, But Not the Way Washington Planned

US sanctions imposed on Tehran following the 1979 Revolution became the catalyst for Iran's technological development, especially in the field of armaments and aviation, military analyst Seyyed Mostafa Khoshcheshm told Sputnik, arguing that Washington would have never enforced sanctions against Iran if it had known what consequences it would have.

Arab foreign ministers will gather in Cairo on Sunday at the request of Riyadh, whose simmering regional rivalry with Tehran has escalated in recent weeks.

But Lebanon's top diplomat Gebran Bassil will not be among them, a foreign ministry source said.

Saudi 'Corruption' Probe Widens: Dozens Of Military Officials Arrested

After jailing dozens of members of the royal family, and extorting numerous prominent businessmen, 32-year-old Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman has widened his so-called 'corruption' probe further still.

The Wall Street Journal reports that at least two dozen military officers, including multiple commanders, recently have been rounded up in connection to the Saudi government’s sweeping corruption investigation, according to two senior advisers to the Saudi government.

Additionally, several prominent businessmen also were taken in by Saudi authorities in recent days.

A number of businessmen including Loai Nasser, Mansour al-Balawi, Zuhair Fayez and Abdulrahman Fakieh also were rounded up in recent days, the people said.

Attempts to reach the businessmen or their associates were unsuccessful.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would observe that these arrests of Saudi military are to consolidate power absolutely, so there is not a one of his COs who will not be behind him, one hundred percent, ultimately, for a strike against Iran.

I would like to hope that some of his trusted advisors have at least mentioned that this will most probably mean a war against Russia as well, as Russian military and civilian leadership have consistently stated that should Iran be attacked militarily, Russia will come to its aid.

US Treasury Secretary praises Saudi Arabia amid its preparations for war with Iran and Hezbollah

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was doing well in transforming the country.

Commenting on the recent Saudi regime “anti-corruption” purges, the US official said the United States is closely watching the situation in Saudi Arabia amid reported asset agreements between Saudi authorities and some detainees in an anti-corruption crackdown.

“I think Mohammed bin Salman is doing well in terms of transforming the country”, Mnuchin said.

Recently, bin Salman announced he is preparing for a confrontation with Iran and Hezbollah, during which he would resort to the Israeli military aid.

The Truth About Why Saudi Arabia and Israel Are Really Working Together

“Russia’s carefully-calibrated weapons sales to the opposing Persian Gulf powers follows a pattern established by China over the past decade. China sells missiles to Iran as well as to the KSA, but it sells more advanced missiles to the Saudis, because the Saudis are the weaker of the two adversaries, and China wants to maintain the balance of power. Russia has been called a ‘spoiler’ in the Middle East so often that the term clings like a Homeric epithet. In recent weeks, Russian policy has shifted to classic balance-of-power politics.”[emphasis added]

China knows this, Russia knows this, and most importantly, Saudi Arabia knows this, too.

That is why on multiple occasions, Saudi Arabia has expressed its desire to “have the battle in Iran rather than in Saudi Arabia.”

US hindering humanitarian aids from reaching Iran

Although The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury has apparently declared in an statement that the NGOs can render services to Iran in regard to rescue operation activities, as well as allowing donations to the country to relieve the sufferings of those affected by natural disasters, transfer of cash has been subject to special circumstances which permits a maximum 500,000 dollars to be transferred over the course of 12 months.

The statement requires the existence of special circumstances for the dispatch of cash even to non-commercial individuals or to a relative. However it is not yet clear how one can prove the special situation of the circumstances.

Despite all the difficulties, the Iranians living in the US are doing their best to devise innovative solutions to send their humanitarian supplies to the quake-hit areas in western Iran.

Revealed – Saudis Plan to Give Up Palestine – For War on Iran

The left-wing Lebanese paper Al-Akhbar has obtained a copy of the plan (Arabic) in form of a memorandum by the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir to the Saudi clown prince Mohammed Bin Salman (English machine translation):

The document, which is being unveiled for the first time, proves all that has been leaked since President Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia last May on the launch of US efforts to sign a peace treaty between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This was followed by information on the exchange of visits between Riyadh and Tel Aviv, the most important being the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to the Zionist entity. The document reveals the size of concessions that Riyadh intends to present in the context of the liquidation of the Palestinian issue, and its concern to get in return the elements of power against Iran and the resistance, led by Hezbollah.

The Saudi foreign ministry memo starts by laying out its strategic perspective:

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this report is true, Palestinian leadership has to understand the level and depth to which they have been deceived and betrayed, by Saudi, American, and Israeli leadership.

Bahrain says deadly bus attack engineered by Iran

Bahrain said on Wednesday a bomb attack on a police bus which killed an officer and wounded nine last month was carried out by a militant cell trained by its arch-foe Iran.

After authorities quashed Shi‘ite Muslim-led ”Arab Spring” protests on the Sunni-ruled island in 2011, militants have launched deadly bombing and shooting attacks against security forces that Bahrain blames on Tehran’s Shi‘ite theocracy.

Iran denies any role in Bahrain’s unrest.

There was no immediate Iranian reaction to Wednesday’s Bahraini interior ministry statement, which added that authorities had arrested one member of the cell while others were fugitives in Iran.

“The terrorist cell received extensive training in Iranian Revolutionary Guard camps on the use and manufacture of explosives and firearms, as well as material and logistical support,” the ministry said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of course, the Sunni government of Bahrain, with a human rights record just to the right of that of Attila the Hun, couldn't possibly have any of its predominanly Shiite population be the least bit upset, whatsoever, at its complete repression of its citizens' basic human rights, could it?!?

The Bahrainis LOVE their government, particularly as it tortures confessions out of peaceful protestors who are simply asking for a constitutional monarchy; throws them into prisons for inordinantely long sentences for crimes they did not commit; and denies their humanity, simply because they practice a different version of Islam than that of the Al Khalifa monarchy.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong here, with these horrifically lousy situations, except everything?!?

Looks as though geopolitically, when in doubt these days, and people don't want to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions, the game here is, blame Iran, or blame Russia!!

Revealed - Saudis Plan To Give Up Palestine - For War On Iran

The tyrants of Saudi Arabia developed a plan that sells away Palestine. They see this as necessary to get U.S. support for their fanatic campaign against their perceived enemy Iran.

An internal Saudi memorandum, leaked to the Lebanese paper Al-Akhbar, reveals its major elements. (Note: The genuineness of the memo has not been confirmed. In theory it could be a "plant" by some other party. But Al-Akhbar has so far an excellent record of publishing genuine leaks and I trust its editors' judgement.)

According to the memo the Saudis are ready to give up on the Palestinian right of return. They forfeit Palestinian sovereignty over Jerusalem and no longer insist of the status of a full state for the Palestinians. In return they ask for a U.S.-Saudi-Israeli (military) alliance against their perceived enemy on the eastern side of the Persian Gulf.

Saudi-Israeli Collusion? Is Israel Seeking Role as Leader of the Sunni Bloc?

Israel has instructed its overseas embassies to lobby their respective host countries in support of Saudi Arabia and its apparent efforts to destabilise Lebanon, a recently leaked diplomatic cable shows.

The cable appears to be the first formal confirmation of rumours that Israel and Saudi Arabia are colluding to stoke tensions in the region.

Sent by the Israeli foreign ministry and disclosed by Israel’s Channel 10 news this week, the cable demanded that diplomats stress Iran and Hezbollah’s engagement in “regional subversion”.

That closely echoes accusations Riyadh levelled against Tehran and the Lebanese faction in recent days.

Analysts have noted that diplomatic moves by Israel to intervene directly in a seemingly internal Arab matter are “very rare”.

Yossi Alpher, a former adviser to Ehud Barak when he was Israeli prime minister, called the cable “extremely presumptuous”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have to remember that Netanyahu is facing a bribery/corruption charge at home. this makes him a very politically vulnerable "wounded animal" in Israeli politics, and and all wounded animals are dangerous.

This new purge by Prince Salman may have been interpreted by Netanyahu as a "the enemy of my enemy (Iran/Hezbullah) is my friend" moment, to further factionalize the Middle East, and potentially give him the momentum to attack both Lebanon and Iran, to misdirect political attention away from his corruption issues, and toward those countries which have been declared Israel's "existential enemies" in the region.

Netanyahu: Israel Will Act Alone to Force Iran Out of Syria

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the most recent ceasefire announcement did not involve any commitment for Russia to force Iran out of Syria, saying that Iran can maintain a legitimate presence in Syria.

This isn’t sitting well with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who urged the world to unite and force Iran out of Syria at all costs. Now, he’s saying Israel is prepared to act alone to ensure Iran has no permanent presence there.

The narrative of Iran even wanting a “permanent” presence in Syria seems to be more or less wholly an Israeli creation, based on reports of building at a Syrian military facility somehow being extrapolated to it being an “Iranian base.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel's Netanyahu has just declared war on Syria.

But of course, in light of the reality that Netanyahu's corruption trial is about to move forward,
Netanyahu to see bribery charges, what can one reasonably expect him to do, sit down and hum "Kumbiya"?!?

He is a politically wounded animal at this point; and politically wounded animals are highly dangerous.

Do not rule out some incredibly brazen Israeli military actions against Iran, Lebanon, or Syria, at this point, and rather immediately.

Iran Lambasts Saudi Arabia for Asking Israel to Attack Lebanon

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has lashed out at Saudi officials for asking the Zionist regime of Israel to attack Lebanon, saying such moves are a shame for the Muslim world.
Speaking in a cabinet session on Wednesday, Rouhani slammed Saudi Arabia’s clear interference in the affairs of an independent country like Lebanon.

It is a very unprecedented event in the history that a country asks the prime minister of another country to resign and then introduces someone else as his replacement, the Iranian president added.

Israel issues Syria warning after concern over Iran-backed forces

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled Monday that Israel would take military action in Syria when it sees fit as it seeks to ensure Iran-backed forces stay away from its territory.

Israel has long accused Iran, its main enemy, of taking advantage of Syria's civil war to send its Revolutionary Guard and its Lebanese Shiite ally Hezbollah into southern Syria, close to the border with the Jewish state.

It has sought to avoid being dragged into the fighting but has carried out dozens of air strikes to prevent arms deliveries to Hezbollah, which fights alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces.

Israel was reportedly seeking a buffer zone in southern Syria near Israeli territory of some 50 kilometres (30 miles), but an agreement reached last week between the United States, Russia and Jordan fell sh ort of that demand, Israeli media said.

What Craziness Is Going on in Saudi Arabia?

But behind all this lies the stalemated Saudi war against wretched Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest, most backwards nation. Saudi Arabia has been heavily bombing Yemen for over two years, using US-supplied warplanes, munitions, including cluster bombs and white phosphorus, and US Air Force management. A Saudi blockade of Yemen, aided by the US, has caused mass starvation and epidemics such as cholera.

When I first explored Yemen, in the mid 1970’s, it was just creeping out of the 12th century AD. Today, it’s been bombed back into the 6th Century.

In spite of spending over $200 million daily (not including payoffs to `coalition’ members like Egypt) the Saudis are stuck in a stalemated conflict against Yemen’s Shia Houthi people. The US and Britain are cheerfully selling bombs and weapons to the Saudis. President Donald Trump has been lauding the destruction of Yemen because he mistakenly believes Iran is the mainstay of the anti-Saudi resistance.

ARAB LEAGUE SET TO HOLD EMERGENCY MEETING, AS SAUDI ARABIA AND ISRAEL PREPARE FOR WAR AGAINST “IRANIAN EXPANSION”

Egypt-based Ahram Online reports that the Arab League is set to hold an emergency meeting on Iran at Saudi Arabia’s request in order to discuss “Iranian interference” in the region at League headquarters in Cairo.

Early unconfirmed reports indicate the meeting could take place next Sunday.

According to Zerohedge, news of the Arab League extraordinary session comes as tensions are at breaking point as regional powers – especially Saudi Arabia and Israel – talk war against perceived Iranian expansion and domination in the Middle East.

Via Reuters…

Saudi Arabia has called for an urgent meeting of Arab League foreign ministers in Cairo next week to discuss Iran’s intervention in the region, an official league source told Egypt’s MENA state news agency on Sunday.

The call came after the resignation of Lebanon’s prime minister pushed Beirut back into the center of a rivalry between Sunni kingdom Saudi Arabia and Shi‘ite Iran and heightened regional tensions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Saudis may not have have much of an appetite for a direct confrontation with Hezbollah in Syria, but Israel will use any excuse to claim the Litani River in Lebanon as its own.

Such a war will most probably include Russia, on Iran's side, and the US and Saudi Arabia against Iran, and has all the potential of going global.

Even if you think such a war has no potential to affect you, please think again.

IF there is no quick end to this, look for a reinstitution of the draft in this country, coming after both our young men, and our young women.

Trump’s CIA Is Laying the Groundwork for a Devastating War on Iran, with Help from Neocon Think Tank

President Donald Trump has, since the beginning of his term, made aggressive opposition to Iran a key feature of his foreign policy. He has surrounded himself with anti-Iran hawks in the White House, and pledged to unilaterally “tear up” the nuclear deal agreed to by major world powers.

Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. proxy in the Middle East, has in recent weeks escalated its campaign against Iran. The Saudi monarchy pressured Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri to resign, and has been accused of holding him hostage. The kingdom then effectively declared war on Lebanon, in the name of countering Iran and its ally Hezbollah.

President Trump has praised Saudi Arabia’s belligerent intervention and foreign meddling, even while accusing Tehran of doing exactly what Riyadh is doing. The U.S. government is working very closely with the Saudi monarchy and Israel to, in Trump’s words, “counter the regime’s destabilizing activity.”

Supposed Al Qaeda links

There are only two teensy tinsy problems with this scenario.

And President Trump, attempting to go to this well of lies, in attempting to "win" American opinion to the point where they will volunteer their kids to be slaughtered in such an upcoming meatgrinder, will not work.

Muhammd Bin-Salman’s Purge in Saudi Arabia Is the Prelude to Something Bigger

Muhammad Bin-Salman’s domestic purge, including the detention of 11 princes and scores of businessmen and former officials under the banner of fighting corruption, is only a first phase. It seems to haves proceeded smoothly so far, without encountering any serious obstacles.

The man now has now brought the four major pillars of state power – the economy, the security and military forces, the media and the religious establishment (both the official Council of Senior Ulema and the unofficial ‘awakening’ clerics) — totally under his control. He has thrown all his opponents, and anyone who uttered any criticism of his rule, behind bars (or, in the case of the princes and other high-ranking figures, incarcerated them in a luxury hotel for now). The latest round of detentions is unlikely to be the last, for we are dealing here with a bulldozer that levels everything that stands in its path.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is one factor which the writer absolutely misses in his analysis of the situation, and that is the question of what Russia is willing - and prepared - to do if Iran gets attacked by a Saudi coalition.

Russian military and civilian leadership has always pledged to come to Iran's aid if it is attacked militarily; so I think the question here, has to be what will Russia do, and how far will it go, to prevent regime change in Tehran?!?

Hezbollah's Nasrallah: Saudi Arabia inciting Israel to attack Lebanon

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech on Friday that Saudi Arabia had declared war on Lebanon, claiming that the kingdom had incited Israel to strike Lebanon.

“Saudi Arabia is inciting Israel to launch a war against Lebanon," said Nasrallah.

"I speak here about facts not analysis. Saudi Arabia is ready to pay tens of billions of dollars to Israel for that,” he added.

Nasrallah also drew parallels between the current situation and 2006 when Hezbollah fought a devastating war with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

"We know now through Israeli media that the 2006 war on Lebanon was prolonged by Saudi when Israel wanted it to end."

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF what Nazrallah is saying is a correct assessment of the situation, look for either Israel iand/or Saudi military strikes to happen in Lebanon very quickly.

Japan's biggest warship to drill with U.S. carriers near Korean peninsula

Japan said on Friday it would send one of its two big helicopter carriers, the largest warship in its fleet, along with two escorts to join three U.S. aircraft carriers for exercises in waters close to the Korean peninsula.

The Japanese ships Ise, Inazuma and Makinami will sail with the USS Ronald Reagan, USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Sea of Japan and East China Sea on Sunday, Japan’s Maritime Self Defence Force said in a press release.

It is the first time three American carriers have trained together in a decade. The show of force comes as U.S. President Donald Trump meets with regional leaders at an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Vietnam.

Trump is on a 12-day tour of Asia and has already made stops in Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing.

His administration has demanded that North Korea halt ballistic missile and nuclear tests. The naval exercise will be a potent reminder to Pyongyang of the U.S. ability to rapidly mobilize military force.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly think that the signals President Trump got from Beijing put the issue of North Korea on the proverbial "back burner", at least for the time being; the infinitely more rapidly emerging and volatile struggles are happening in the Middle East, between angagonists Saudi Arabia and Iran, where a war of words may spill out into a hot war, and very quickly.

Does Trump Want a New Middle East War?

Does Donald Trump want a new Middle East war, pitting Saudi Arabia against Iran in a conflict that could lay waste to the world's oil region and drag the United States into a conflict that would make the war in Iraq look like a minor skirmish? It sure looks like it.

Indeed, it's reasonable to suspect the Trump administration had a direct hand in Saudi Arabia's newfound muscular policies. Just a few days before all of this unfolded, Jared Kushner – Trump's son-in-law, who's been given a vast portfolio for Middle East policy – made an unannounced and still unexplained visit to Saudi Arabia, where he powwowed with Mohammed bin Salman. Kushner, 36, and MBS, 32, reportedly spent long hours, just the two of them, deep in conversation. "MBS is emboldened by strong support from President Trump and his inner circle, who see him as a kindred disrupter of the status quo — at once a wealthy tycoon and a populist insurgent," wrote David Ignatius in The Washington Post.

"ISRAEL WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN": IRAN IS REPORTEDLY BUILDING A MILITARY BASE IN SYRIA

On Friday, the "western press" started to set the stage for war between Lebanon (and Iran) and Saudi Arabia (and Israel).

Just a few hours later, a far more provocative report was published by the BBC, according to which Iran is establishing a permanent military base inside Syria, citing a Western intelligence source. The report, predictably, comes amid growing tensions over Iranian influence in Syria and across the region, and as the Saudi-Israel "alliance" is desperate to find a pretext to begin war.

As the BBC adds, the Iranian military is said to have established a compound at a site used by the Syrian army outside El-Kiswah, 14 km (8 miles) south of Damascus.

Needless to say, for Israel this would constitute the crossing of a "red line" by Iran: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu recently warned that Iran wanted to establish itself militarily in Syria. "Israel will not let that happen," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight; Israel intends to go in, guns blazing, to invade a foreign country (Syria) to get rid of the presence of another foreign country (Iran) with absolutely zero credible proof as to what the purpose of these buildings are, other than some dodgy half-claims, convenient to Israel's case for invasion, which utterly cannot be backed up by facts?!?!?

Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; if the IDF goes forward and attacks, Israel will never, ever have any credibility in the world, ever again. That might not particularly matter to you, but it will matter to future generations of Israelis.

ON THE BRINK OF WAR

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/48176.htm

The latest developments in Saudi Arabia are just the prelude to an imminent war that will reshape the region and affect the entire world

We should not let minor details such as Hariri’s resignation or the detention of [Saudi] princes and former ministers divert our attention from the real developments that are taking place in secret. Nor should we let these minor details distract us from the more dangerous phase that will follow Prince Mohammad bin Salman ‘purge’ on the domestic Saudi front. For such ‘purges’ are the preliminary move to scenarios for a war that may be the most dangerous in the region’s history. And we are not exaggerating here.

The crucial turning point occurred in early September, when the U.S. began providing naval gunfire support for the U.S.-backed Lebanese Army—something that was opposed, as journalist Nir Rosen has pointed out, by the State Department, the CIA, and even Marine Commander Col. Timothy Geraghty.

In an article he wrote on the 25th anniversary of the attack on his marines, Geraghty recalled the situation:

Trump backs purge of Saudi royal family – at a price

US President Donald Trump has swiftly followed up his Tuesday tweet in support of the great Saudi purge of the kingdom’s elite. A White House statement on Wednesday “welcomed” the allegation by Riyadh that Iran is supporting the Houthi militias of Yemen “including the supply of illegal arms such as ballistic missiles.”

In his tweet, Trump plunged straight into the heart of the power struggle in the House of Saud, saying “I have great confidence in King Salman and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, they know exactly what they are doing … Some of those they are harshly treating have been “milking” their country for years!”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So that was the quid pro quo on the part of President Trump; support of the Saudi purge, in exchange for an ARAMCO listing on the NYSE!!

US Air Force official: Missile targeting Saudis was Iranian

Iran manufactured the ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Shiite rebels toward the Saudi capital and remnants of it bore “Iranian markings,” the top U.S. Air Force official in the Mideast said Friday, backing the kingdom’s earlier allegations.

The comments by Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, who oversees the Air Force’s Central Command in Qatar, further internationalizes the yearslong conflict in Yemen — the Arab world’s poorest country.

Saudi Arabia long has accused Iran of giving weapons to the Shiite rebels known as Houthis and their allies, though Tehran has just as long denied supplying them. Riyadh quickly backed up Harrigian’s allegations in a statement to The Associated Press.

“There have been Iranian markings on those missiles,” Harrigian told journalists at a news conference in Dubai ahead of the Dubai Air Show. “To me, that connects the dots to Iran.”

There was no immediate reaction from Tehran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, a word, sir, please: have you not recieved the memo that the "big lie" went out with the whoopie cushion and the dribble glass?!?

Yemen's Defense Ministry said the missile attack "shook the Saudi capital" and the operation was successful. The attack was conducted using a Yemeni-made, long-range missile called the Burqan 2H, it said.

Yemeni missile strikes Saudi capital cith Riyadh

Sir, this is rather like pregnancy; either the weapon was Yemeni manufactured and launched, or it was not. You cannot have this both ways. And so far, both Yemeni and Saudi military experts claimed that the weapon was Yemeni in origin.

Yes, we all know what the agenda here is; to lie the American people into yet another bloody war in the Middle East against Iran for its oil resources, for which the Saudis and Israelis have been cheerleading for quite some time.

But you and your colleagues, pushing for this war, are facing a far more war-skeptical, and war-weary nation than you were right after 9/11, when the US was lied into swallowing whole that bit of codswallop that Saddam Hussein had "weapons of mass destruction."

The price for lying to the American people, and the world, Lt. Harrigian, is to never be believed again; and in your "taking one for the team" on this assertion that the missile was Iranian, and not Yemeni in origin, you have just sacrificed every bit of professional credibility you ever had, sir.

And please understand the following; while Riyadh and Tel Aviv have been advocating for regime change in Tehran, they fully expect this do be accomplished at the costs of American blood, and American money.

And please remember; should we go to war against Iran, Russian military and civilian leadership has vowed to protect it militarily; war with Russia ...over Iran?!?

For whom, sir, would this really be worth the cost?!? Not for the American kids who will die and get maimed for life in such a war; thank you, no.

The Saudi blockade of Yemen is starving kids and killing thousands, so why is Washington still defending it?

Yemen is considered the world’s worst humanitarian disaster by the U.N.

Now, at this point, you may be thinking, “This is shocking, but ultimately not surprising. The Middle East is a chaotic and violent place, and it has been for some time. What’s happening in Yemen is an extension of the broader Sunni vs. Shiite conflict, and while it’s incredibly tragic, this is a regional conflict that we as Americans obviously can’t solve.”

True enough, but here’s the thing: That Saudi-led coalition is made possible by Washington. The blockade is happening with our government’s endorsement, and the entire Saudi intervention is happening with our government’s material and intelligence support. Washington is selling the Saudis weapons, refueling their bombers, planning their flights and using our Navy to bolster the blockade in Yemen’s ports. Ending U.S. support wouldn’t magically make Yemen peaceful, but it would let in the food and medicine ordinary people desperately need.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Prince Salman, the principal architect of this genocide, has many honorifics by which he is described, due to his damned good luck in having been born into the House of Saud; however, there is one which will haunt him to his grave and beyond, and that is the following: the Butcher of Yemen.

Yes I said it, and out loud. It is absolutely impossible not to say, looking at the ongoing carnage in Yemen.

As someone who loves people in general, and hates to see people hurting or suffering, I am thoroughly appalled and disgusted to see the US government enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen. And yet, under President Trump's watch, this is precisely what I am seeing happening in Yemen.

In fact, I am surprised that the Saudi Arabian military hasn't carpet bombed the country, killing every single Yemeni infant, woman, and medically fragile elderly person still standing; but perhaps, that is what is to come, particularly if Saudi Arabia plans to go in to Lebanon to goad Iran into fighting for Lebanese integrity, so Saudi Arabia can declare war against it.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman sees peace deal as key to building regional alliance to confront Iran, officials and diplomats tell MEE

Webmaster's Commentary:

Saudis and other allies in the Gulf want to recognize Israel and to establish relationship with Israel as an ally against Iran..The blocking stone is the Palestinian issue which is sacred to their peoples.

They're trying to court Abbas to sign a phony deal like Oslo Accord so they can have the door wide open to start allying with Israel . To convince their peoples, Abbas is their first step..But Gaza leaders were in Tehran not too long ago.

That's why Abbas was surprisingly invited to give Saudis the green light to ally with Israel...But it will not work and the Arab man in the street will not buy it, because Arab street does not trust Israel.

SAUDI BILLIONAIRES SCRAMBLE TO MOVE CASH OFFSHORE, ESCAPE ASSET FREEZE

Over the weekend, Saudi King Salman shocked the world by abruptly announcing the arrests of 11 senior princes and some 38 ministers, including Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, the world’s sixty-first richest man and the largest shareholder in Citi, News Corp. and Twitter. The purge was orchestrated by a new “supreme committee” to investigate public corruption created by King Salman but under the control of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who chairs the committee and is widely suspected of being the driving force behind the purge.

In addition to the arrests, two Royals have died since the purge began. Prince Mansour bin-Muqrin reportedly perished in a helicopter crash near the Yemen border earlier this week, and Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahd - killed during a firefight as authorities attempted to arrest him.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The big question here, outside of the lootings, confiscations of assets, and assassinations of various Saudi princes, is when Saudi Arabia is going to invade Lebanon, as the feint for getting Iran to defend it, then declaring war against Iran for doing so.

Both the Kuwaiti and Saudi governments have called for their nationals to leave Lebanon immediately; this cannot be interpreted as anything other than a screaming telegraphing of the reality that there is an imminent Saudi war against Lebanon and Hezbullah, and ultimately Iran, coming.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister calls for sanctions on Iran for its 'support of terrorism’

"We would like to see sanctions on Iran for its support of terrorism and sanctions on Iran for violating the ballistic missile resolutions of the United Nations," Adel Al-Jubeir, Saudi minister of foreign affairs, told CNBC Thursday

The Kingdom's foreign minister went on to say the most effective way of dealing with Iran would be for the international community to hold Tehran accountable for "fixing" the nuclear agreement, supporting terrorism and for its ballistic missile program

Al-Jubeir described the situation in Lebanon as "unfortunate." He went on to accuse Hezbollah of "hijacking the system" and putting "roadblocks" in front of Hariri at every opportunity

Saudi Arabia later warned its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately

Dubious Osama bin Laden Documents: A Pretext for a War on Iran

The CIA has given the Long War Journal exclusive access to the supposed Osama bin Laden files taken from his “compound” in Pakistan.

The Long War Journal is a project of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) where its editors are senior fellows. The foundation is a refuge for neocons and a staunch supporters of Israel and its policies. It is also a vocal advocate of confronting Iran.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise the CIA “shared” a carefully selected portion of the documents?—?some 500,000 files?—?with the Long War Journal.

The released documents focus on Iran and its supposed relationship with al-Qaeda.

On November 1, NBC News reported:

The trove also provides new insight into the often adversarial relationship between al Qaeda and Iran?—?the Sunni Muslim terror group and the Shiite republic?—?in the form of a 19-page report described by the Long War Journal as “a senior jihadist’s assessment of the group’s relationship with Iran.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US goverrnment are using its presstitutes and whorespondents to create a climate of demonisation against Iran as a prelude to war against it.

I, for one, can no longer believe anything the US government says through its corporate outlets, and have had it up to HERE with even the possibility of one more American kid dying in a war for resources (with Iran, read: oil, and the sale of oil only in US dollars).

When Karl MArx made the observation that all wars are economic in nature, he was absolutely correct in his assessment.

THE SAUDI PURGE: THE MIDDLE-EAST IS ON THE VERGE OF A NEW WAR

Other high-ranking members of the establishment and the royal family - the two tend to be one and the same in Saudi Arabia - get arrested on charges of corruption, with their bank accounts frozen.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri unexpectedly resigns after he was summoned to Riyadh by his Saudi-backers.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia accused Iran of conducting acts of “direct military aggression” and accused Lebanon of “declaring war” on Riyadh by allowing Hezbollah “aggression” against the kingdom.

All this happened in a span of just a few days.

With ever-growing security challenges and problems at the regional level, the crisis that took hold of Saudi Arabia does not seem to be slowing down.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This "attack against corruption", with which these imprisoned princes are accused, was simply a way for the Crown Prince to consolidate his power; seize about 88 billion dollars' worth of assets; and leave him a free hand to finish the job in Yemen according to his will (which will probably mean carpet bombing the country very soon), and tricking the Iranian military into invading Lebanon to defend Hizbullah as an excuse to declare war against Iran.

We have just seen the Saudi decree that all Saudi nationals need to leave Lebanon immediately; they could not be telegraphing any more loudly that something wicked this way comes for Lebanon.

But Prince Salman had better get his geopolitical ducks in somewhat of a row before he attacks Iran.

Russia's military and civilian leadership has pledged, consistently, that should Iran be attacked, Russia will come to its aid militarily.

Does Prince Salman really believe, seriously, that he could win a military confrontation with Russia over Iran, even with the US's and Israel's military assistance?!? Were I he, and his advisors, I would rethink that scenario through, very, very carefully before he starts World War III.

Bypassing the Suez Canal: Russian - Iranian transportation project gets approved

The Russian transit project "North-South" has received international support. Earlier it was reported that Moscow, together with Tehran, began to actively explore the feasibility of implementing a corridor for the flow of goods from Asia to the EU.

Unlike the Chinese "New Silk Road", the emphasis in this project is on the use of maritime transport. It is expected that the time savings for the delivery of goods from Asia to the EU can be up to two weeks. Saudi Arabia’s King to 'stand down and hand power to son after purging' rivals

KING Salman is reportedly preparing to make his son Prince Mohammed bin Salman the ruler of Saudi Arabia in a shock move following a corruption purge, reports claim.

Saudi expert James Dorsey, a senior fellow at Singapore's S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, said: "The most recent crackdown breaks with the tradition of consensus within the ruling family whose secretive inner workings are equivalent to those of the Kremlin at the time of the Soviet Union.

"Prince Mohammed, rather than forging alliances, is extending his iron grip to the ruling family, the military, and the National Guard to counter what appears to be more widespread opposition within the family as well as the military to his reforms and the Yemen war.”

The news comes after the US promised to aid Saudi Arabia in neutralising “Iran’s destabilising influence” and battle extremism in the Middle East, the Pentagon has announced.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These events are moving a breakneck speed.

The Saudi-led, US-government enabled genocide in Yemen will continue unabated now, and will soon spread into both Lebanon, and Iran.

Iran-North Korea's 'axis of evil' may be Trump's biggest threat

With sanctions and rhetoric, President Donald Trump may be pushing North Korea and Iran closer together. On Wednesday, while in Seoul on his Asia tour, three U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups displayed military strength nearby, while Trump gave dire warnings to North Korea's leader to abandon nuclear weapons. "Do not underestimate us, and do not try us," Trump said while addressing the National Assembly. It's a dangerous game of brinkmanship.

In refusing to certify Iranian compliance with the JCPOA — the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, otherwise known as the Iran nuclear deal — the Trump administration hopes to keep Iran from becoming another nuclear armed adversary state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Demonizing both North Korea and Iran with these accusations of weapons collusion is not helping ramp down the tensions in either case.

and let's face it here; if you were either Kim Jung Un or Iran's Rouhani, wouldn't you want to do everything possible to keep your governments from being regime changed by the US?!?

There is only one logical answer here, and that ISN'T "no".

And with President Trump having decertified the P5+1 deal, from the US government's perspective, what he has demonstrated to North Korea is that the US government cannot ever be expected to keep its word on a treaty.

SAUDIS, IRAN ON PATH TO 'VERY, VERY BLOODY' WAR

While the world tries to interpret Saudi Arabia’s moves to clamp down on corruption and watches the kingdom accuse Iran of an “act of war,” a former Reagan administration Pentagon official says Saudi Arabia is gearing up for the very real possibility of a “very, very bloody” war with Iran.

Within the past several days, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is next in line to the Saudi throne, has ordered the arrests of many government officials, including 11 princes, on allegations of corruption. More recently, the crown prince accused Iran of an “act of war” after Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launched an Iranian missile toward the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

The Houthis admit firing the missile, and Saudi investigators say the fragments prove the missile is from Iran. Furthermore, the Saudi-friendly prime minister of Lebanon abruptly resigned, and many other elements of the Lebanese government are loyal to the Shiite regime in Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, the fragment was adjudged by both Saudi and Yemeni military officials to be Yemeni-manufactured, and Yemeni fired; it was absolutely NOT Iranian in origin.

Saudi Arabia intercepts ballistic missile over capital

The article goes on to say that the missile was Yemen's Defense Ministry said the missile attack "shook the Saudi capital" and the operation was successful. The attack was conducted using a Yemeni-made, long-range missile called the Burqan 2H, it said.

So if, in fact, it was a Yemeni made and launched missile, how could it, please, have been Iranian in origin?!? What is the Saudi "proof" that this is the truth?!?

No: this is an absolute lie.

And the reason for this lie is that this article is setting forth a narrative, one of "Good little Saudi Arabia (with a known "human rights record" just to the right of that of Attila the Hun) getting "beat up" by a nasty, horrible Iran, and therefore, the US has to get dragged into this fight on the side of Saudi Arabia, cheerled by Israel which, like Saudi Arabia, labels Iran as its "existential threat" in the region.

And also, like Saudi Arabia, Israel is expecting that regime change in Tehran will primarily be purchased at the costs of only American blood, and American money.

I frankly do not want to see one more American kid killed or maimed for life in a war over resources in the Middle East, yet I see this war coming, and frightully soon.

Mike and I have been speculating about precisely when such a war would start. The Israeli military and its coalition (which probably includes Saudi Arabia, but un-named for geopolitical reasopns) are doing a massive military exercise, over the period of the next two weeks.

Israel begins largest military drill as Saudis consider Missle Strike by Iran as an Act of War

the only, slightly, minor problem with this headline is that it wasn't the Iranian military which launched this missile; it was the Yemeni Houthis who did this.

People, we are being "groomed" for a war against Iran, taking Saudi Arabia's and Israel's side in it, there is no mistake about it; Iran is getting villified, and Saudi Arabia is getting held up high as a shining example of "moderate Muslim behaviour".

The facts on the ground in Yemen speak a very different and horrific narrative, with the US government colluding in Saudi war crimes, such as the assassination of Yemeni children; deaths from complications of malnutrition in Yemeni children, courtesy of the duel US-Saudi blockading of Yemeni harbors; and now, a massive outbreak of cholera, most probably weaponised.

IF the US government does go to war against Iran, to mollify Saudi Arabia and Israel, we may very well looking at miilitary confrontation with Russia as well, as historically, their political and miilitary leaders have vowed to protect it, should it become militarily threatened.

And lastly, should the US government go to war against Iran, it will absolutely not be on the right side of either history, nor any kind of true regional "justice".

US Demands UN Action Against Iran Over Yemen Missile

Though Saudi Arabia accused Iran (and Lebanon for that matter) of being behind a Yemen missile strike over the weekend, they offered no evidence that this was the case. Indeed, while they claimed Iran provided the missile, they also confirmed the missile was a Burqan 2H, which is a Yemen-made design, and which Yemen’s Defense Ministry confirmed firing themselves.

Still, one allegation from the Saudis was enough for US Ambassador Nikki Haley to come to the UN Tuesday to demand international action against Iran, claiming the missile “may be of Iranian origin” and that would be a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Saudi Arabia has been frustrated by how poorly the war in Yemen is going, and has been keen to pick fights with Iran. The Trump Administration has very much been supportive of that idea, and subsequently is backing the Saudi allegations against Iran, even though they are transparently untrue.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ambassador Haley, a word, please: the "big lie" went out with the whoopie cushion and the dribble glass, and this seems to be understood by every UN member country's Ambassador....except for yourself, the Ambassador from Saudi Arabia, and the Ambassador from Israel.

Unfortuntely, it appears that you are violently allergic to the truth, and in a massive depth of geopolitical denial which is going to ultimately get the US sleepwalking into a war against Iran, using Saudi Arabia, as a proxy, which will most likely ultimately involve Russia on Iran's side.

And although Saudi Arabia and Israel's political leadership have been cheerleading for a war against Iran, regime change in Tehran is most apt to be borne at the costs primarily of American blood, and American money.

Saudi Arabia and Iran move closer to war - how does each side's military strength compare?

Long term rivals, the two nations have seen tensions escalate in recent days after a series of explosive incidents.

The latest has seen Saudi Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman accuse Iran of arming militias - something he warned could be considered “an act of war”.

It comes after Saudi Arabia intercepted a rocket fired by militia near the airport in its capital city, something they blamed Iran for.

Meanwhile Iran has done little to calm the situation, mocking Saudi Arabia and accusing it of hypocrisy.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif posted on Twitter this week: “KSA bombs Yemen to smithereens, killing 1000s of innocents including babies, spreads cholera and famine, but of course blames Iran.

“KSA is engaged in wars of aggression, regional bullying, destabilising behaviour & risky provocations. It blames Iran for the consequences.”

Yemen's Houthis threaten to hit ports, airports in Saudi Arabia, UAE

Yemen's Houthi Ansarullah movement, which aids the country's army in its fight against Saudi Arabia’s deadly military campaign, has threatened to launch more missile attacks on ports and airports in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in retaliation for the massacre of thousands of Yemenis.

“All airports, ports, border crossings and areas of any importance to Saudi Arabia and the UAE will be a direct target of our weapons, which is a legitimate right,” the Houthi political office said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We will not stand idly by, we will seek more radical means to prevent both the tightening of the blockade and all acts aimed at starving and humiliating the people of Yemen,” the statement added.

The development came a day after the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen announced that it had “decided to temporarily close all Yemeni air, sea and land ports.”

“Unparalleled Catastrophe”: The Possible Use of Nuclear Weapons by the US Within Months? Why?

– President Trump’s speech to and about Iran and the nuclear deal was not only totally unacceptable in terms of US-Iran relation and his – fake – image of Iran; in all its primitive anti-diplomacy thrust, it also sent a signal to everybody in Pyongyang that there is no point in trying to achieve a written agreement with the U.S. because, simply, you cannot trust it;

– today’s US does not have a unified, consolidated foreign policy and much less a cohesive strategy or doctrine. We see helter-skelter procedures and ongoing fight among the White House, Congress, Pentagon, State Department, CIA and other so-called intelligence services – something that can only add to the increasing danger;

– there is no clear taboo in the US against the US using nuclear weapons. A recent scientific study reveals that a clear majority of men and women in the US would find it OK to kill 2 million civilian Iranians if that could save the lives of 20.000 US soldiers in trouble in that country;

Webmaster's Commentary:

Those people do exist; they just do not get invited to positions of power, because they might have a contravening opinion which could, potentially, shake up foreign policy in a direction the globalists and money junkies do not like.

Is Saudi Arabia Engaging Iran in a New Regional Conflict?

While Hariri stepped down in a televised address from Saudi Arabia and blamed Hezbollah and Iran for meddling in the country’s internal affairs, this might only be a prelude to a new Hezbollah-Israel war—something that might enable the Saudis to force Iran to shift its focus away from Iraq and Syria.

This is how things might be forced to turn ugly in Lebanon. The Saudis, by pulling Hariri out of his office, seem to be hoping to ensure that Hezbollah gets stuck with the blame and responsibility for Lebanon’s challenges, from caring for Syrian refugees to wiping out Al Qaida and ISIS affiliates. This will probably require Hezbollah to assume more control in Lebanon—something that Israel is most likely to sees as a red-line. A stronger Hezbollah in Lebanon means a stronger Iranian presence close to Israel, forcing Israel in a conflict with them.

Saudi Arabia Says Lebanon, Iran Declare War

Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia intercepted a ballistic missile fired by north Yemeni forces at their capital city. The missile was identified as a Burqan 2H, a Yemeni design, and Yemen’s Defense Ministry confirmed firing it.

Rather than just the latest retaliation in Saudi Arabia’s two and a half year war in Yemen, however, Saudi officials seem to be looking to turn the incident into the start of a region-wide war, saying it amounted to a declaration of war against them by both Lebanon and Iran.

This claim centers on Saudi claims, which appear to have started Monday but weren’t mentioned over the weekend when the interception happened, that the missile was an “Iranian” missile, fired at the Saudi capital by Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, which is part of the Lebanese government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is insane; this charge has been proven absolutely wrong by its identification by Saudi and Yemeni military as a Burqan 2H, of Yemeni manufacturing, and Yemeni design.

This is not an Iranian designed or manufactured missile.

But we have a two week huge military exercise by Israeli and "coalition" forces,in one of the most dense, integrative natures ever conducted by the Israeli military; the purge of Saudi royalty and businessmen who didn't like where Prince Salman was going; and the resignation of the Prime Minister of Lebanon, which is going to leave that country in great geopolitical turmoil.

And I hope President Trump understands that even though Prince Salman and Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu have been "cheerleading" for regime change in Tehran, it will primarily be bought, if Trump is foolish enough to sign on to this, at the costs of American blood and American money.

Think about it, Mr. President, please, before you sign off on this; and please remember that Russian military and political personnel have long pledged to come to Iran's aid militarily, should it be attacked.

And on top of this, comes this very sad statement about how President Trump is characterizing this purge:

Trump Endorses Saudi Crackdown to "neutralize" Iran.

"EXPLOSIVE" LEAKED SECRET ISRAELI CABLE CONFIRMS ISRAELI-SAUDI COORDINATION TO PROVOKE WAR

Early this morning, Israeli Channel 10 news published a leaked diplomatic cable which had been sent to all Israeli ambassadors throughout the world concerning the chaotic events that unfolded over the weekend in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, which began with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's unexpected resignation after he was summoned to Riyadh by his Saudi-backers, and led to the Saudis announcing that Lebanon had "declared war" against the kingdom.

The classified embassy cable, written in Hebrew, constitutes the first formal evidence proving that the Saudis and Israelis are deliberately coordinating to escalate the situation in the Middle East.

The explosive classified Israeli cable reveals the following:

On Sunday, just after Lebanese PM Hariri's shocking resignation, Israel sent a cable to all of its embassies with the request that its diplomats do everything possible to ramp up diplomatic pressure against Hezbollah and Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to shake my head and ask: how are Saudi Arabia and Israel defining "regional subversion"?!?!? Is there anything concrete at all to this?!?

And a quick question; do both Netanyahu and Prince Salman understand, even remotely, that such an attack against Iran will most probably bring Russia into the war on Iran's side, as its military and civilian leadership has long promised to come to Iran's aid if attacked militarily?!?

War with Russia over Iran?!? Gentlemen, please think about it...long and hard.

And to President Trump, a word, please; the Saudis and Israelis are cheerleading for regime change in Tehran, but primarily at the costs of American blood and American money.

Mr. President, those Americans who put you into the White House last November, simply will not tolerate yet another war, this time for the conquest of Iran's oil, when all the previous military misadventures over the last 16 years in places like Niger; Libya; Aftghanistan; Iraq; and Somalia have gone so miserably badly for the American military.

Iran and 9/11: Down the Rabbit Hole of Blame

Largely unreported and unknown to almost everyone is the recent push to re-establish an Iranian role in the 9/11 attacks. To be more specific, some in Washington are currently trying to allege that Iran played a larger role in the 9/11 attacks than the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Why this assertion about Iran— that has been lying fallow for years—is so recently being resurrected raises questions, bears scrutiny, and begs an examination.

UN nuclear agency counters Trump objections to Iran deal

The head of the UN nuclear agency charged with verifying Iran’s commitments under a precarious nuclear deal has countered objections hurled at the agreement by US President Donald Trump.

“We have had access to all the locations that we needed to visit,” Yukiya Amano, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told the Financial Times.

And that the role of military locations in its monitoring program had been “overly exaggerated”, he added.

Trump — who has lambasted the seven-country agreement backed by the UN and EU as the “worst deal ever” — last month highlighted access to military sites among his chief criticisms of a deal he has threatened to terminate if Congress and allies cannot find a way to fix it.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday warned the US Congress that it would be “extraordinarily dangerous” for it to reject the Iran nuclear deal that he helped broker.

President Donald Trump last month decertified Iran’s compliance with the 2015 agreement, but stopped short of scrapping the deal outright, instead handing the issue over to Congress.

Kerry told the Chatham House international affairs think tank in London that the decision “was clearly made without relevance to any fact whatsoever” and criticised the involvement of Congress.

Israel Begins “Largest-Ever Aerial Military Drill”, As Saudis Consider Missile Strike (Allegedly) by Iran as “Act Of War”

Air-forces from nine countries with about 50 planes are now starting to drill in the most southern region of the country utilizing Ovda Air Base in Israel.

Teams from India, the United States, Greece, Poland, France, Italy and Germany with be flying over 300 sorties simulating ‘real war’.

According to Israel Defense,

Throughout the first week of the two-week-long exercise, the international aircrews will acclimate themselves to the base and get to know each other. Throughout the second week, the participants will rehearse complex scenarios and coalition flights.

During some of the sorties, the participants will fly against the “Flying Dragon” Squadron, the IAF’s aggressor squadron, which will simulate enemy forces via “enemy” aircraft, SAM (Surface-to-air missile) batteries and MANPADS (Man-portable air-defense systems).

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, the situation in the Middle East is getting to be just about as serious as is a heart attack.

These huge exercises are due to last two weeks, during which I believe that the Israeli/US-led coalition, in concert with Saudi Arabia (which doesn't want to be named, for obvious geopolitical reasons), will be making a go/no go decision for a decap strike against Tehran.

Here is a map of the Middle East;

Map of the Middle East

Eliat, the Israeli resort at Israel's southernmost tip, is closely located to the Ovda Air Base in Israel. This airbase, from which these exercises will take place, borders Aquaba, Jordan.

With Lebanon in geopolitical meltdown, after the resignation of Prime Minister Harriri; Saudi Arabia claiming that Iran shot a missile into Riyahd; Syria mopping up the last of their jihadis; and Iraq still in geoppolitical shock from the continued occupation, the shortest way into Iran appears to be a skip through Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi airspace.

LEBANESE PRESIDENT WON'T ACCEPT PM'S RESIGNATION UNTIL HE RETURNS

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri resigned on television while visiting Saudi-Arabia, leaving the validity of his abdication unclear.

Lebanon's president will not accept the resignation of Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri until he returns to Lebanon, palace sources said on Sunday, delaying for now politically difficult consultations on his successor.

Hariri left Lebanon for Saudi Arabia on Friday and resigned on Saturday in a televised statement that took the Lebanese political establishment by surprise.

A resignation would thrust Lebanon back into the arena of regional rivalry between Sunni Muslim Saudi Arabia, an ally of Hariri, and Shi'ite Muslim Iran, which backs Hezbollah.

President Michel Aoun, a political ally of Hezbollah, will wait to accept or reject Hariri's resignation until he returns to Lebanon to explain his reasons, sources at the presidential palace said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

At this point, Lebanes President Ayoun has to consider the very real possibility that Harrari will not return to Lebanon, because he feels his life is at risk, should he do so.

SECOND SAUDI PRINCE CONFIRMED KILLED DURING CRACKDOWN

Following the death of Prince Mansour bin-Muqrin in a helicopter crash near the Yemen border yesterday, the Saudi Royal Court has confirmed the death of Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahd - killed during a firefight as authorities attempted to arrest him.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All is definitely not in a state of Zen-like calm in the House of Saud, and it appears that Prince Salman is consolidating his power, potentially ahead of a military move against Iran, economic moves that have nothing to do with oil, and massive financial moves against those who have been arrested here. The companion news stories are shatteringly grim, in terms of regional peace:

The
Saudi Purges are not about corruption, but economic compliance

SAUDIS CALL MISSILE ATTACK "BLATANT ACT OF AGGRESSION" BY IRAN, "COULD BE CONSIDERED ACT OF WAR"

But the question has to come to mind; why would the Iranians do something so profoundly stupid?!? My guess here, if I were to hazard one, is that possibly, they did not, but it could have been a false flag event, courtesy of Israel, or the Saudis themselves, created as a pretext for war against Iran.

So let's see precisely how this would come down; we would have Saudi Arabia; Israel; and the US on one side, and the Iranians and Russia on the other. Please remember that over the last several decades, and definitely since the Iranian revolution in 79, Russia's military and civilian leadership have collectively pledged to come to the aid of Iran, should it be attacked.

Russia, the US, and Israel are all nuclear-armed nations; the minute it did not appear that there was a conventional military win possible by the US and Israel, such a war could go nuclear in a heartbeat, and that is the horrific, and very real, danger here.

I would encourage the leadership of all countries potentially involved here to take a step back from the brink, and consider what peaceful options might be used to ratchet down tensions before a global catastrophe ensues; because there is no "coming back" from a global thermoneuclear war for this planet, or the people on it.

Trump Blames Iran For Reported Missile Attack On Saudi Arabia

President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for a missile attack on Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, while on a tour of Asia.

The missile was brought down near King Khaled Airport on the northern outskirts of the city and did not cause any casualties, said Saudi state-owned Al Ekhbariya TV.

Iran Urges Russia To Ditch The Dollar, Isolate America

Iran has suggested isolating the US by ditching the dollar during a meeting yesterday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Tehran.

Remonstrating against US threats to impose new sanctions and cancel the nuclear agreement, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei branded the US an enemy and urged Moscow to completely sever ties with the US currency:

"By ignoring the negative propaganda of the enemies, that seek to weaken relations between countries, we can nullify US sanctions, using methods such as eliminating the dollar and replacing it with national currencies in transactions between two or more parties; thus, isolate the Americans.”
As The Express reports, Putin met Iranian political leaders in an effort to nurture a warming relationship strengthened since Donald Trump recently threatened to abandon the international nuclear deal with Iran reached in 2015.

Israel Attacks Syria’s Homs Province, Syria Fires Anti-Aircraft Missiles

The latest in a growing number of Israeli airstrikes against Syrian territory appears to have been one of the most ambitious yet, striking deep into the Homs Province, near the Lebanese border and destroying what was said to be a weapons depot for the Syrian military.

The attack destroyed the site, and provoked retaliatory fire from Syrian air defense, who fired a number of surface-to-air missiles at the Israeli warplanes. Israeli officials say none of their planes were hit in the incident.

Where this is all leading is another matter, however. Israel has been very public about being upset that the Assad government is winning the Syrian War, and with ISIS and al-Qaeda both on the ropes, Syria may not feel so overwhelmed by existing fights that they feel incapable of retaliating. Likewise, Russia’s patience with Israeli attacks has always been tentative, at best, and could quickly dry up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the Israeli government believes that it can continue to bomb Syria with impunity (due to the alleged "growing Iranian influence" there)will not be taken lightly by either the Syrian government, or the Russian government, which has been invited to get rid of all jihadists in the country.

Israel is probably more in danger if Russian patience snaps, because at that point, their military initiating these attacks could run into some very unpleasant surprises.

UN ON KHAN SHEIKHOUN - VICTIMS HOSPITALIZED BEFORE CLAIMED INCIDENT HAPPENED

A UN commission concluded that the Syrian government is responsible for a widely discussed incident in Khan Sheikhoun. An alleged gas attack by air happened in April in an al-Qaeda controlled area in Syria. It was used by the White House to justify its bombing of a Syrian airbase.

The now released report was made to fit the narrative. The details below show that it was not the result of a serious investigation. This explains why Russia blocked the extension of the mandate of the reporting commission.

On October 26 Reuters reported: Syrian government to blame for April sarin attack: U.N. report

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad is to blame for a chemical attack on the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun that killed dozens of people last April, according to a report sent to the United Nations Security Council on Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Timing of the release of such a report, is never accidental.

So one has to wonder; just what are the US and Israel going to do, collectively, to Syria, to "punish" its leadership for a chemical attack it does not appear the Syrian government actually did?!?

The Israeli government has been very public in stating that as long as there is any Iranian presence in Syria, they will continue to bomb it.

Israel is going to war in Syria to Fight Iran.

US backed rebels gain foothold on large oil field in Syria, and refuse to give it back to the Syrian government. US Backed Syrian rebels capture huge, formerly ISIS-controlled oil field, refuse to give it back to the Syrian government

So, the US government now has a small "beachhead" in Syria, from which Israeli military can maneuver.

It is only a matter of time before both countries, working in concert, will try a decap strike against Damascus, pushing both countries into a potential military confrontation with Russia in Syria.

This is a coming collective "you can't fix stupid" moment, for both the US and the Israeli government, if they think, for a moment, that Russia will not counter them militarily, and soon.

Source Says Iranian President Turned Down Trump's Invitation to Face-to-Face Talks

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has rejected a request by his US counterpart Donald Trump for face-to-face talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly conference in New York last month, a senior Iranian analyst disclosed on Sunday. "US President Trump has invited President Rouhani to a face-to-face meeting during Mr. Rouhani's visit to New York to participate in the UN annual conference in September but our president has turned down the offer," Mahdi Faza'eli wrote on Sunday. Noting that the demand was raised one day after Trump's insulting speech against Iran at the UN, he said French President Emanuel Macron has also been trying to persuade President Rouhani to accept the meeting, but failed.

US attempt to fuel Iraq-Iran rift backfires

Evidently, Tillerson crossed the red line. The point is, these Shi’ite groups, collectively known as Popular Mobilisation Forces and several tens of thousands strong, are probably going to be designated as part of the Iraqi armed forces. Abadi’s office in Baghdad came out in no time with a stinging rebuke – “No party has the right to interfere in Iraqi matters” – and called the Shi’ite paramilitary groups “patriots.” The next day, when Tillerson showed up in Baghdad for a meeting with Abadi, the latter was fairly explicit. Abadi said the Popular Mobilisation Forces form “part of the Iraqi institutions” and they will be the “hope of country and the region.”

'Never Trust' the US, Ayatollah Khamenei Warns Iraq

During a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Al Khamenei advised his guest to remain vigilant of U.S. plots.

“The Americans created Daesh themselves, but now that the terrorists have been defeated by the Iraqi government and people, they pretend to be supportive of this important development,” Ayatollah Khamenei explained. “However, they will undoubtedly not hesitate to harm Iraq again if they find the opportunity.”

al-Abadi emphasized Iraq's efforts to retain unity and territorial integrity in the face of terrorist threats, while Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that unity among Iraq's ethnic groups and popular forces resulted in important victories against Islamic State group operating in the country.

Israel willing to resort to military action to stop Iran acquiring nuclear weapons: minister

Israel is willing to resort to military action to ensure Iran never acquires nuclear weapons, the intelligence minister said on Thursday in Japan where he is seeking backing for U.S. President Donald Trump’s tougher line on Tehran.

Trump said on Oct. 13 he would not certify Iran is complying with an agreement on curtailing its nuclear program, signed by his predecessor, Barack Obama, opening a 60-day window for Congress to act to reimpose sanctions.

“If international efforts led these days by U.S. President Trump don’t help stop Iran attaining nuclear capabilities, Israel will act militarily by itself,” Intelligence Minister Israel Katz said in an interview in Tokyo. “There are changes that can be made (to the agreement) to ensure that they will never have the ability to have a nuclear weapon.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

These threats against Iran by Intelligence Minister Katz are only for domestic consumption, to placate the Israeli voters that Tel Aviv is doing "someething" to alleviate the alleged "existential threat" represented by Iran (which only collectively exists in the fevered brains of those in the Knesset in Tel Aviv).

What Israel has been cheerleading for, consistently, is a US attack against Iran, with the costs only to be borne only with American blood and American money, not Israeli.

And of course, that may well lead to a war with Russia over Iran, as Russian politicians and military commanders have consistently pledged that should Iran get attacked militarily, Russia will come to its aid.

IF President Trump is in any way as smart as he purports to be, he will sit this one out, and let it be Israel getting clobbered by both the Iranian and Russian military.

Unfortunately, with the choke-hold Tel Aviv has on US foreign policy, that is as likely a scenario as is pigs discovering they are aerodynamic.

Potential showdown in eastern Syria over IS-held territory

As U.S.-allied fighters hurtle down the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, a showdown could ensue between the U.S. and Russia, whose allies are racing to take over the same strategic oil-rich territory from the Islamic State group.

While the two sides will likely avoid a direct confrontation, the capture of Raqqa by the U.S.-backed forces, followed by their swift seizure of Syria's largest oil field from IS, has irked Damascus, which needs the oil to boost its flagging economy.

As the rival international coalitions compete to defeat the militants and snap up oil and gas fields, the Russian military has issued a stream of angry statements, accusing the U.S. of colluding with the Islamic State and other extremist groups in a bid to stymie the government's advances.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think, at this point, it is only a matter of time before we see Russian/Syrian and US-backed jihadists tangling militarily.

The potential for a US strike has been escalated by Israeli threats (and the carrying out of those threats) to strike Syria as long as there is any Iranian military presence there.

Israel is going to war in Syria to fight Iran

The situation in Syria looks as though it is heading into a very volatile place, and I hope Russia can ratchet down the tensions.

TRUMP BOWS TO NEOCONS, NETANYAHU

President Donald Trump’s new Iran policy clearly represents a dangerous rejection of diplomacy in favor of confrontation. But it’s more than that: It’s a major shift toward a much closer alignment of U.S. policy with that of the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Whether explicitly or not, Trump’s vow to work with Congress to renegotiate the Iran nuclear agreement, and his explicit threat to withdraw from the deal if no renegotiation takes place, appear to be satisfying the hardline demands Netanyahu has made of Washington’s policy toward Tehran.

IRGC smashes terrorist team Northwest of Iran

According to the public relations department of the IRGC’s Hamze Sayyid al-Shohada Base, the terrorist team had infiltrated into Chaldoran region in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan on Wednesday night and killed two local residents.

The IRGC ground forces in the region launched an operation after the attack, chasing the terrorists and killing all four of them in an armed clash, it added.

The IRGC forces seized weapons, communication equipment and ammunition from the terrorists, the statement said.

There has been a surge in the number of the counter-terrorism operations the IRGC has launched in recent months.

US lawmakers seek vote to abandon Saudi-led war in Yemen

A bipartisan quartet of House lawmakers is wrangling with the chamber’s leadership for a floor vote to withdraw U.S. military support for Saudi involvement in Yemen’s civil war.

California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, who is pressing for the vote, said Tuesday that he is in negotiations with Democratic and Republican leadership about whether the resolution is privileged under the War Powers Act and would therefore get an automatic, fast-tracked floor vote.

Such a vote, Khanna said, is likely to unite progressive Democrats and non-interventionist Republicans — though the outcome is unclear. “You may get many Democrats and Freedom Caucus members,” Khanna said, referring to the conservative wing of the House GOP caucus.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope that the House does overturn the AUMF; unfortunately, such a vote will most likely be vetoed by President Trump, because he believes (without a shred of evidence, other than that conjured up by Saudi Arabia and Israel) that Iran is gaining a strong foothold in Yemen.

My bet is that this slaughter in Yemen will continue unabated, to the point of nearly assassinating every last Yemeni child, woman, and medically fragile elderly person, if they haven't already dropped dead from malnutrition and cholera.

Of course, to Saudi Arabia's Prince Salmon, AKA the Butcher of Yemen, the ends, done through the commission of US government-enabled war crimes against the Yemeni people, justifies the means.

No bargain or negotiation allowed on Iran defense power

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Commander-in-Chief of armed forces, made the remarks in a joint graduation, inauguration, and epaulet granting ceremony for cadets of Islamic Republic of Iran's Army Academies that was held on Wednesday at Imam Ali Officers' Academy.

Addressing the cadets, the Iranian Leader said "our dear Iran was once submissive to American, Zionist, and English advocates. This nation, country and its history had come under repression by dependant, cruel, weak and submissive rulers."

"The Islamic Republic glorified and dignified Iran," he stressed. "Today, our fight with the arrogant powers is over their desire to dominate our region. The most pivotal element of our national sovereignty is viewed as an intrusive element by our enemies - one that needs to be fought against."

He went on to add, "they oppose the development of the Islamic Republic of Iran's power in our region and beyond, because it is the country's strategic depth."

Steve Bannon Launches His Big Foreign Policy Crusade

Just another neocon in Israels pocket!

Stephen K. Bannon joined other Republican grandees such as Sen. Tom Cotton at a packed event in Washington on Monday.

Bannon, who has sometimes been cited as “Trump’s dove,” has emerged as one of the harshest critics of Iran in Trumpworld, collaborating extensively with former UN ambassador John Bolton, as I’ve reported. Bolton thinks the current move on the JCPOA is essentially for show: the deal is unsalvageable. His plan, backed by extreme hardliners like Frank Gaffney, calls for discussing military options with Israel against Iran and backing Kurdish national aspirations, which is a nonstarter for Iran, Turkey and the Shia-dominated government in Iraq; Bolton was spotted entering the White House on Monday.

Could U.S. Deployment Of Troops To Afghanistan Really Be Strategy to Attack Iran?

By Brandon Turbeville

While the U.S. media is busy weeping over the defeat of ISIS in Syria, the slow death of Kurdistan, and the inevitable victory of the Syrian government over Western-backed proxies, one story that has remained quiet at least in terms of its possible significance is the fact that the United States is giving the go ahead for around 3,500 troops to be moved into Afghanistan under the guise of fighting terrorism and helping stabilize the situation on the ground.

Back in September, Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced that “he had signed deployment orders for some of the troops but would not make an announcement on the specific numbers until after he briefed Congress.”

The 3,500 troops would bring the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to around 14,000 according to official numbers...

He opened by quoting President Trump’s inaugural address, and bragged that president’s trip to Saudi Arabia in May gave the Saudis the gumption to lead a blockade against Doha. “I don’t think it was just by happenstance that two weeks after the summit that we saw the blockade by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and Egypt and the king of Saudi Arabia on Qatar,” said Bannon.

Trump’s Iran Obsession and the War on Yemen

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to make our government’s already indefensible Yemen policy worse, and they want to do it for this lousy reason:

Coupled with Iran’s proximity to the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, the Houthi missile transfers have raised concerns that Tehran may be positioning itself to control two crucial energy chokepoints in the region.

This is why Yemen is now “front and center” in the administration’s new Iran strategy, according to a senior advisor who helped draft it.

Whatever the U.S. does next in Yemen, it won’t “roll back Iran” because Iran isn’t there to be rolled back. If the Trump administration falls for this, they will be dragging the U.S. deeper into an unnecessary war that will do nothing to Iran. Instead, it will continue our shameful policy of helping to inflict death and destruction on Yemenis that have done nothing to us.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, the government and military of your country are colluding with Saudi Arabian troops in warcrimes, and genocide in Yemen; it is just that simple, period, end of discussion.

I don't know about you, but I really, morally despise being a citizen of a country committing war crimes. Mike and I are too old, and too broke, to immigrate, but if we could, we certainly would; there are other, morally civilised countries in this world which absolutely do not engage in this behaviour.

Are Our Mideast Wars Forever?

As their U.S. allies watched, the Kurdish peshmerga fighters were run out of Kirkuk and all the territory they had captured fighting ISIS alongside the Americans. The Iraqi army that ran them out was trained and armed by the United States.

The U.S. had warned the Kurds against holding the referendum on independence on Sept. 25, which carried with 92 percent. Iran and Turkey had warned against an independent Kurdistan that could be a magnet for Kurdish minorities in their own countries.

But the Iraqi Kurds went ahead. Now they have lost Kirkuk and its oil, and their dream of independence is all but dead.

More troubling for America is the new reality revealed by the rout of the peshmerga. Iraq, which George W. Bush and the neocons were going to fashion into a pro-Western democracy and American ally, appears to be as close to Iran as it is to the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American people have grown infinitely more war-weary and more war-sceptical than at any other time I have observed them, since the Vietnam War era.

I seriously doubt that they will support more wars, when our existing ones in places like Iraq; Niger; Somalia; Afghanistan; Syria; and Yemen are going so generally horribly badly.

That Iran should become politically dominant in Baghdad, Beiruit, or Damascus, is one of the unintended consequences of a number of poorly thought out and ill conceived war scenarios, dating back to the Bush era, which did not account for for the potential hazards of getting involved militarily in the region the first place. And despite all the cheerleading from Israel's Netanyahu and Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman regarding regime change in Tehran, such a move would most likely box the US government into another no-win situation, as is the current US/NATO occupation of Afghanistan.

The primary charactarization of US foreign policy over the last 16 years has to be that of magical thinking, which had absolutely zero basis in reality, but the horrific costs, in American blood and money, have been all too real.

In looking at the corporate US-presstitute demonization I am seeing of both Russia and Iran, it looks as though President Trump is ultimately looking to wage wars against both these countries; I just hope he understands that our military cannot fight both at the same time, although that is what will happen if he attacks Iran, because Russia's mllitary and civilian leadership have long pledged to defend it if it is attacked militarily.

I would like to politely point out that as a result of assisting Syria against its jihadis, Russia has earned the envy of the world in terms of its weaponry, and how well it has functioned in real-world combat conditions; the US has the Lockheed-Martin F-35 to offer, which is still incapable of working as advertised, no matter how many billions of dollars the DOD has thrown at it.

The Occupied, Unhinged Surveilled State of Amerika, at this moment the 21st century, has become a true rogue nation, and one that no nation in its collective right mind could possibly trust to keep its word; look at what President Trump has just done with the P5+1 agreement, as an example. The only way it seems to get its way, is through hubristic bellicosity, lies, and war, rather than hard-won, moral negotiations.

I would like to hope that the White House, Congress, State Department and Pentagon have the capability to think through their next moves in the in the Middle East through very thoroughly, and carefully; The next moves here, if not done with extreme care and caution, could well spark a Third World.

US MERCENARIES, IRAQI HIGHWAYS AND THE MYSTERY OF THE NEVER-ENDING ISIS HORDES

Maps of the conflict stretching over the last several years show clear corridors used to reinforce IS positions, leading primarily from Turkey’s southern border and to a lesser extent, from Jordan’s borders.

However, another possible vector may be desert highways in Iraq’s western Anbar province where US military contractors are allegedly to “provide security” as well as build gas stations and rest areas. These highways contributed to the current conflict and still serve as a hotbed for state–sponsored terrorism. Whether these US-controlled and -improved highways pose a significant threat for a reorganized effort by the US and its regional allies to divide and destroy Iraq and Syria seems all but inevitable.

The Islamic State’s de facto invasion of Syria and Iraq was a more massive and dramatic replay of an earlier surge of foreign militants into the region, following the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

Iran Is Flying One of America's Most Powerful Fighter Jets (From the 1970s)

One of the ironies of the bitter relations between the Iran and the United States today is that half a century ago they were the closest of allies. The repressive, secular government of the shah had come to power thanks to a CIA-orchestrated coup, and was lavished with then latest American weaponry, including F-14 Tomcat fighters, AH-Cobra attack helicopters and TOW antitank missiles.

So when the CIA asked Iran if it could conduct aerial spying flights into the Soviet Union, the response was “How many bases will you need?” and “Can our pilots ride backseat?” and, even, “Can we buy spy planes from you to help out?”
