Dr Marcus Papadopoulos discussing whether RT is a foreign agent.
According to the US Department of Justice, RT – this channel – is an agent of a foreign, even hostile, power. All the while, the DOJ refuses to explain why this is the case or even cite what laws we may have broken. But something else is in play: critics warn RT is a test case for a wider campaign of media suppression.

Abandonment Plan Set as Hawaii Windfarms Begin to Rust Out

Hawaii’s most recent wind energy project went online in 2012, adding to the number of such facilities nationwide, and a new study shows that operations and maintenance costs for these aging facilities will grow into a lucrative business in North America over the coming years.

(Translation: Maintenance costs will soar, leading to abandonment—just like last time.)

Island Air: Did the Airports Division bamboozle Fitch Ratings?

This is where it gets interesting.

With repossessors seizing its airplanes, Island Air filed for bankruptcy protection October 16, 2017. Ten days later, Fitch’s upgrade stated, “The Airports Division expects near-term traffic results will be better than projected due to Island Air expanding interisland traffic, more than doubling capacity over last year….” Island Air cancelled all flights and shut down operations on November 10, 2017.

Perhaps Fitch’s research was conducted before Island Air’s crisis was known?

No.

The Airports Division had to have known about financial difficulties at Island Air for several months now. KHON November 10, 2017 reports, “Island Air’s financials reveal mounting bills with state as largest unsecured creditor:”

Hawaii's Island Air shuts down and cancels all of its flights after 37 years of service

Hawaii's second-largest airline, Island Air, shut down Friday after exhausting all options to keep flying.

Island Air, which has about 400 employees, made the announcement Thursday.

The company filed for bankruptcy protection on October 16 after its aircraft lessor attempted to repossess the company's three remaining Q400 aircraft for nonpayment.

New Study: US state hit with up to 200 times more Fukushima fallout than expected — Over a Trillion becquerels of nuclear waste fell on Hawaii — Scientists: “Plume may have taken an alternative path… Greater than anticipated”

Fukushima-derived radiocesium fallout in Hawaiian soils… This study estimated the magnitude of cesium deposition in soil, collected in 2015-2016, resulting from atmospheric fallout… Detectable, Fukushima-derived 134Cs inventories ranged from 30 to 630 Bq m-2 and 137Cs inventories ranged from 20 to 2200 Bq m-2… This research confirmed and quantified the presence of Fukushima-derived fallout in the state of Hawai’i in amounts higher than predicted by models and observed in the United States mainland…
The Hawaiian Islands were expected to get minimal, below 10 Bq m-2 or lower, of Fukushima-derived fallout…
Fukushima-derived soil radiocesium concentrations, were greater than anticipated based on model-predicted Pacific atmospheric dispersion rates…

As North Korean threat grows, Hawaii prepares for nuclear attack

or decades, the wail of the nuclear bomb warning siren was ubiquitous in U.S. cities. Public service commercials drilled the “duck and cover” mantra into the minds of Americans, and the possibility of a Soviet attack was always around the corner.

But after the Cold War, most places abandoned their sirens. Fears of terrorism grew more urgent and, for many younger Americans, being on notice for nuclear war became a relic of the past.

That’s no longer the case in Hawaii.

Amid increasing North Korean threats against the U.S., Hawaii has launched the most aggressive effort in the country to prepare for attack. TV commercials warn the state’s 1.4 million residents to “get inside, stay inside” if a bomb drops. State officials are holding online forums and flying between islands for town halls to field questions from residents.

On Dec. 1, the nuclear attack warning siren will be heard in the state for the first time in more than three decades.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kim Jung Un is many things; stupid ... is not one of them.

He understands, perfectly well, that a first strike bombing of an American state, or asset, would result in his country getting bombed into molten glass by a US led coalition.

What is perhaps a more likely scenario is one of the Hawaiian islands being "sacrificed" in a false flag attack; it would not be the first time that this has happened. Think about the "incident" which drew the US into the Second World War.

Oahu surprised: FDR wasn't

Day of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor is a book by Robert Stinnett alleging that the Roosevelt administration deliberately provoked and allowed the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in order to bring the United States into World War II. Stinnett argues that documentary evidence shows that the attacking fleet was detected through radio and intelligence intercepts and that the information was deliberately withheld from Admiral Husband E. Kimmel, the commander of the base.

Attack warning siren tests will begin next month

The North Korean nuclear threat will soon enter Hawaii living rooms a little more forcefully as the state adds an “attack warning” wavering-tone siren to its monthly “attention alert” tests for hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes.

At 11:45 a.m. Dec. 1, during regular siren tests on the first business day of each month, 50 seconds of the steady-tone alert will be followed by a pause and then 50 seconds of the attack warning tone, said Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Executive Officer Toby Clairmont.

Fukushima radiation found in Hawaii fish — Almost half contain fallout from Japan nuclear disaster

Thirteen commonly consumed types of fish caught in the North Pacific and locally available in Hawaii were analyzed using gamma spectroscopy to measure Fukushima-derived and historic 134 Cs and 137 Cs isotopes. All fish samples had detectable 137 Cs above 95% Confidence Intervals. Three out of the thirteen samples had 134 Cs, an isotope indicative of Fukushima releases, detected above 95% Confidence Intervals. The highest 134 Cs and 137 Cs concentration in the examined species was in ahi tuna carrying 0.10±0.04 Bq/kg and 0.62±0.05 Bq/kg, respectively. Other samples with 134 Cs activities found above their 2-sigma uncertainty were albacore tuna and swordfish…

Pension Panic In Paradise: Maui Residents Outraged Over 52% Spike In Pension Contributions

Earlier this year, Maui County residents in the island state of Hawaii were somewhat less than ecstatic to learn that their property taxes were going to increase by approximately $29.7 million for fiscal 2018. According to County Council member statements at the time, the additional funding was needed to help provide better public services for Maui residents.

That said, fast forward just a few months and it looks like a substantial portion of those tax increases won't go to provide better public services for Maui residents at all but rather will be plowed into the state's massively underwater pension fund. As The Maui News points out today, Maui's contributions to the state Employees’ Retirement System will surge 52% over just the next couple of years...and that's if everything goes to plan.

Trump Summons Generals To War Room After Hawaii Students Get "In The Event Of A Nuclear Attack" Email

Here is what not to do when addressing your student population at a time when tensions with a nuclear-armed adversary are running at fever pitch: send an email to the student population with the subject title "in the event of a nuclear attack." Unfortunately for hundreds of students at the Aloha State school, that is precisely what they got in the inboxes on Monday, and as the NY Daily News notes, the message sent Cold War-style shivers down the spines of those not accustomed to the "duck and cover" drills of the 1950s, which in this day and age of pervasive snowflakyness, would be pretty much everyone.

"In light of concerns about North Korea missile tests, state and federal agencies are providing information about nuclear threats and what to do in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack and radiation emergency," says the email obtained by Hawaii News Now.

University of Hawaii sends email to students and staff with the subject line: 'In the event of a nuclear attack'

Students at the University of Hawaii received an ominous email on Monday, titled 'In the event of a nuclear attack'.

The email gave students at the school, which has its main campus in Manoa on the big island, details about what to do if there was a nuclear strike on the island.

'In light of concerns about North Korea missile tests, state and federal agencies are providing information about nuclear threats and what to do in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack and radiation emergency,' the UH email said.

Fact Check: Did Navy oust black sailor who didn’t salute the flag?

Her protest followed that of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who repeatedly knelt during the national anthem to call attention to what he saw as discrimination against people of color.

Other athletes followed suit.

Ervin was called in for a meeting the next morning with superior officers and read her rights, The Washington Post reported. She said the only thing she told the officers was that she was a special security officer.

The next day, Ervin was told that her security clearance was being taken away, the Post said. She said she was sent to the Executive Transportation Office — a VIP parking center for the base — and told to wash and wax cars, pull weeds, clean the locker room and perform other menial tasks.

Ervin left the base as scheduled on Friday, Sept. 23; at home, she found an email from her supervisor at Leidos, telling her not to show up for work on Monday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This story errs in saying that Ervin was following quarterback Colin Kaepernick's protest as the incident actually happened in September of 2016; a year ago. But many outlets are reporting this as if it just happened and linking it to the NFL protests.

Controversial plans for $1.4bn giant alien hunting telescope on land sacred to Native Hawaiians gets go ahead

A long-running effort to build one of the world's largest telescopes on a mountain sacred to Native Hawaiians is moving forward after a key approval, reopening divisions over a project that promises revolutionary views into the heavens but has drawn impassioned protests over the impact to a spiritual place.

Protesters willing to be arrested were successful in blocking construction in the past.

Hawaii Becomes First U.S. State To Go Cashless For Marijuana Sales

By Aaron Kesel

Hawaiian state officials announced Tuesday that Hawaii will be the first state to require the sale of marijuana to be cashless, paid with a special debit card payment system next month.

“Oct. 1 is our target date to try to go cashless as much as we can,” Iris Ikeda the state’s financial institutions commissioner, told reporters at a news conference.

While marijuana is legal for medical use in Hawaii, the feds still consider it a Schedule I drug. This status has brought problems for many banks and credit unions, which is the reason why cannabis dispensaries have been cash-only...

Nearly half of Hawaii could be affected by data breach

"Initially, when people would go to the website they might have been alerted their identity was not involved. Equifax has now found some of the people in that case were actually involved," said Hawaii's Better Business Bureau Director of Marketing Jason Kama.

Why is important to find out for sure at: "www.equifaxsecurity2017.com"?
Because the information exposed wasn't credit card numbers, instead it was all the information thieves need to get lines of credit under victim's names.

"This breach involves people's social security numbers, addresses , names all things people would use to apply for a credit card or perpetuate credit fraud," said Kama.

Experts recommend those affected put a freeze on their credit. It adds an additional hurdle to opening new credit or loans, but also makes it more difficult for thieves with your personal information to do the same.

Hawaii Considers A "Universal Basic Income" As Robots Seen Stealing Jobs, There's Just One Catch...

Forget social security, medicaid and WIC, today's progressives have moved well beyond discussing such entitlement relics of the past and nowadays dedicate their efforts to the concept of a "Universal Basic Income" for all...call it the New 'New Deal'. You know, because having to work for that "car in every garage and chicken in every pot" is just considered cruel and unusual punishment by today's standards.

Of course, it should come as little surprise that the progressive state of Hawaii, which depends on easily automatable jobs tied to the tourism industry, is among the first to pursue a Universal Basic Income for its residents. And while the idea of passing out free money to everyone seems like a genius plan, if we understand it correctly, as CBS points out, there is just one catch...figuring out who will pay for it.

Hawaii is not legally a state!

It is easy to find the courage necessary to support a moral position if that position benefits oneself. True moral courage, however, is proven when one chooses to support that which is morally and ethically right even when such a position is to one's one detriment.

The people of the United States find themselves in such a position right now, forced to choose between a moral and ethical position that carries with it the potential for "inconvenience", or supporting the status quo and having to admit to themselves that they are not the champions of justice they imagine themselves to be. By the end of this article, you will know for yourself which one you are.

Most folks have heard that Hawaii is a state, one of the United States of America. Most people, including those who live in Hawaii, accept that statement as a fact.

Located at 2850 Pukoloa St., Honolulu, the facility is expected to be completed by early 2018 and will electrolyze water to produce hydrogen on site. The target market for the station will be future owners of the hydrogen-fuel-cell powered Toyota Mirai. Servco first brought that alternative fuel vehicle to the Islands in 2016, making Hawaii the second state in the nation to receive them, and will begin limited sales of the vehicle when the hydrogen station has been built.

HART Boardmember: Our Credibility has Disappeared, Nobody Knows Who is Responsible

The credibility of rail transit on Oahu has virtually disappeared. No one, least of all the public, knows who is in charge. Nor does anyone believe anything with respect to costs, timetables, transit-oriented development (TOO) or projected financial plans. With multiple governing entities and their pronouncements, no one knows who is responsible for the existing dysfunction, let alone infrastructure policy.

I suggest the recent failure of the State Legislature to reach a conclusion on how to assist the City with funding for future construction and/or operation of rail transit is an opportunity to re-evaluate where we are financially and reconsider what is the most sensible way to move forward.

New Hawaii campaign to help residents plan for North Korea attack

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency is kicking off an educational campaign aimed at helping residents and visitors figure out what to do if the state is the target of a nuclear missile attack from North Korea.

The agency said the threat to the islands from the rogue nation is "currently assessed to be low."

But officials added ongoing North Korean missile tests —and growing public concern — have prompted officials to work on preparedness and disaster management plans.

Vern Miyagi, administrator of the emergency management agency, stressed that the public shouldn't be alarmed by the planning.

Rather, he said, the public should see the preparation and education much like the work being done to prepare the public for hurricane and tsunami, which pose a greater risk to the state.

"We need to tell the public what the state is doing," Miyagi said. “We do not want to cause any undue stress for the public; however, we have a responsibility to plan for all hazards."

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF the State of Hawaii handles a potential missile attack as "well" as it has handled the absolute fluster-cluck of its light rail program, then citizens of the State of Hawaii are truly on their own.

Get educated as to how to prepare yourself for such an event as much as possible; this means long-term storage food and water; extra medications for yourselves and your pets. Have a bugout plan, if you are separated from the family, and understand, tactically, where it will be the safest for you to ride out the attack in relative comfort.

Understand what potassium iodate is, and how to find it before such an emergency may take place.

If you have kids in school, learn what the policy is regarding the school's releasing them before the actual end of class time.

Because you absolutely, completely cannot rely on the State of Hawaii to take care of you in any meaningful way; it is too dysfunctional to be even the least bit effective in the case of such an attack by North Korea (or, potentially China).

Hawaii's largest homeless camp: rock bottom or a model refuge?

Tucked around a corner, a woman named Twinkle Borge greeted the schoolkids from her metal folding chair. A seven-year-old girl tugging a red wagon full of water jugs paused to give Borge a kiss on the cheek. Then all three walked into their home: the largest homeless encampment in Hawaii.

Remarkably, some 200 people live there, and six infants were born there over the past year alone. Even in the state with the highest homelessness rate in the US, it draws attention. Yet while residents acclaim it as a novel community that incorporates ancient Hawaiian principles, it is now at risk of being swept away.

“We know from what we’ve seen in the past, once an encampment goes above a certain size, it becomes unmanageable,” said Scott Morishige, the governor’s coordinator on homelessness.

You Think Hawaii is Expensive Now? Wait Until The Universal Basic Income

By Jeff Paul

I spent three years in Hawaii. It’s obscenely expensive to live there. Real estate, food, electricity, health care, and travel costs are significantly higher in Hawaii than on the mainland. And incomes aren’t rising fast enough to match rising cost of living. As a result, many natives rely on government aid to survive. This week, Hawaii passed a new measure to study the universal basic income (UBI) as an attempt to address this problem.

But will it make costs even higher?

The bill, House Concurrent Resolution 89, declares that all families are entitled to basic financial security and empowers a number of government offices to evaluate universal basic income options...

It also orders government offices to weigh the state's economy and find ways to ensure all families have basic financial security, including an evaluation of different forms of a full or partial universal basic income.

New poll shows Assad-backing Tulsi Gabbard's popularity waning with Hawaii Democrats

Very interesting. A major reason—probably the major reason—that Hawaii Democrats have been reluctant to float any kind of primary challenge to Rep. Millions of dead sea creatures wash ashore in Hawaii — Carcasses found along miles of beach — “That should trigger some alarm” — “I don’t know what’s going on over there… I’ve never seen anything like this”

Hawaii seeks to ban toxic chemical sunscreens to save the coral reefs from chemical decimation

Many snorkelers who are drawn to Hawaii’s coral reefs have noticed that they are not brimming with life the way they once did, and it looks like they only have themselves to blame. A lot of explanations have been put forth for coral die-offs, but one of the biggest culprits is the sunscreen that is worn by people who swim in the waters. In fact, a staggering 14,000 tons of sunscreen are washed off into our planet’s oceans each year.

The problem has gotten so bad that Senator Will Espero has proposed a state bill that will outlaw the sale of sunscreen that contains octinoxate and oxybenzone. These two ingredients are responsible for many of the problems coral reefs are currently facing, and they enter the water when people who wear sunscreen go swimming, surfing, snorkeling or even take beach showers.

'It was absolutely mortifying': Australian woman, 26, who flew to Hawaii for romantic holiday with her American boyfriend ends up in JAIL on her birthday after immigration staff go through her diary

'They were convinced I wanted to immigrate illegally because my diary had notes like 'going away drinks' and 'last day at work', things I got in order before expecting to be away for three months,' she wrote on Facebook.

Hill left Australia for Honolulu on Monday on a 88-day tourist visa on a fully-paid trip.

But after being taken into an interview room, she was handcuffed and locked up in a federal prison.

'I was told there were no more flights to Australia that day and I would have to spend the night at the detention center, which the officer described as 'like jail but you can't make any phone calls',' she said.

'I was frisked, made to undress in front of an officer and show that there was nothing in my hair or mouth, and asked to 'squat and cough' which was absolutely mortifying.'

They said 25-year-old Uskanil, a ticketed passenger who had gone through TSA screening, was allegedly spotted by an alert contractor and detained.

'Hawaii dream turned into nightmare’: Aussie woman ‘strip-searched, jailed’ by US border officials

An Australian woman says she was strip-searched and groundlessly jailed in Hawaii upon her arrival to the US, where she planned to spent an extended holiday with her American boyfriend.

Molly Hill said she arrived at Hawaii’s Honolulu International Airport on Monday fully prepared for her 88-day-trip and not expecting any problems. She had an approved tourist visa for 90 days and a paid return ticket.

At customs, however, her “Hawaii dream turned into a nightmare,” the 26-year-old wrote on her Facebook page, telling the story of her detention.

Home About Antiwar.com Donate Blog US Casualties Contact Latest NewsNorth Korea Says Tested Missile Capable of Carrying Heavy Nuclear Warhead

North Korea’s state media has claimed that yesterday’s successful missile test was aimed at proving the nation’s capability of carrying a “large scale heavy nuclear warhead,” quoting leader Kim Jong-un as saying the United States mainland is in “sighting range for strikes.”

The missile flew 787 kilometers, landing between Russia and Japan. The Pentagon insisted that the missile was “not consistent” with an ICBM of the sort capable of traveling far enough to hit the US. Moreover, this is a rare successful test for North Korea, whose missiles have several times exploded during takeoff recently.

The claim of nuclear-capability is of course still a huge deal, however this too isn’t really proven by a missile test launch, as North Korea’s ability to miniaturize their nuclear weapons into a warhead is very much still in doubt, though clearly with tensions soaring in the region it is in their interest to claim they have such retaliatory capabilities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

North Korea's missiles most probably cannot hit the mainland; they may, however, be able to hit Hawaii.

The US government "sacrificed" Hawaii once before to get public sentiment behind joining World War 11; would they perhaps, sacrifice the Hawaiian islands again to get public sentiment behind a military attack against North Korea, let's say, with a false flag attack against them, to be blamed on North Korea?!?

I would not bet against this, right now, were I a betting woman.

Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano Lost Almost All of Its Lava Delta to the Sea

A lava delta on Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano collapsed, sending almost the entire formation into the surrounding sea.

The phenomenon occurred on May 3 after a large plume of steam began coming from large cracks in the middle of the Kamokuna lava delta, according to a report from the US Geological Survey (USGS).

Lava deltas are most vulnerable to collapsing when their coastal edge extends further into the water, which makes them unstable, USGS scientists wrote. This allows cracks to form.

Cayetano to Trump: Cancel Federal Rail Funding

Massive cost overruns and inflated ridership projections are the norm in rail projects, but Honolulu’s 20-mile elevated rail system tops them all. Initially estimated to cost $5.28 billion, the projected construction cost is now $10 billion or $500 million per mile, the most costly in the world.

City officials initially promised that rail would reduce the current level of traffic congestion dramatically. However, the Final Environmental Impact Statement concluded that rail would reduce traffic congestion by less than 2% and that “traffic congestion will be worse in the future with rail than what it is today (without rail).”

Currently. the City does not have the funds to complete the 20-mile system, falling at least $3 billion short and six years behind schedule.

How did this debacle happen? Frankly, like Alaska’s infamous “Bridge to Nowhere,” Honolulu’s rail project was driven more by politics than by objective engineering and planning.

Cases of brain-infecting worm are spiking in Hawaii

A parasitic worm that infects people's brains is turning up more frequently on Maui, and Hawaiian officials are getting worried. "It’s like having a slow-moving bullet go through your brain," says state epidemiologist Dr.

The larvae can survive for months in humans, growing into worms an inch long. The parasite can cause a rare form of meningitis, which comes along with serious headaches, vomiting, temporary facial paralysis, and more.

US Will Keep Ground Troops in Libya

In a press briefing at the Pentagon today, African Command leader Gen. Thomas Waldhauser announced that the US intends to keep ground troops in Libya for the foreseeable future to support “friendly forces,” and to “degrade” the ISIS forces that remain in the country.

Waldhauser did not specify how many US troops are in Libya now, or how many will stay, but did estimate that there were less than 200 ISIS fighters left in Libya. The US had announced the end of the anti-ISIS campaign in Libya back in December, but never fully withdrew from the country.

The US forces were in Libya trying to help the “unity” government defeat ISIS in the city of Sirte. US officials repeatedly claimed the city was totally surrounded, and that no ISIS fighters would get away, though when the fighting finally ended, a substantial number of ISIS fighters did in fact get away.

Barack Obama hits the links in Hawaii as the former president and first lady enjoy a surprise vacation in the aloha state

Barack Obama looked like he's enjoying his retirement as he hit the golf course on the first day of his family vacation in Hawaii.

Obama, who was renowned for squeezing in the odd round while running the country, finally has time for as many rounds as he wants, as the family takes a surprise break on Oahu.

Robert Barnes: Hawaii Obama Judge Rules Muslim Imam Has Special Constitutional Rights to Bring Anyone from Terror Countries into America

In a ruling issued on Wednesday afternoon, a federal judge, and Obama appointee, prevented the President of the United States from enforcing his own executive order to protect the nation from migrants from terror-riddled countries.

The judge then prevented every other judge and every other state from following the President’s order, the judge making himself a one-man Supreme Court and substitute President.

The judge then held that American universities and immigrants living here can prohibit America from ever limiting immigration from Muslim-heavy countries, claiming the First Amendment gives Muslim-dominant nations a right of immigration to America.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." -- The First Amendment

Immigration is not a right, it is a privilege, subject to reasonable controls and restrictions.

Hawaii Challenges Trump’s Refugee Order, Takes No Refugees

Hawaii filed a challenge in federal court to President Donald Trump’s new executive order on refugee and migrant entry to the U.S. Wednesday, though the state has a dismal track record on refugee resettlement.

“If a new order still discriminates against persons based upon national origins, violates our nation’s freedom of religion, or otherwise violates the Constitution, the State of Hawaii and its people must oppose it,” state Attorney General Doug Chin said, in advance of the second order’s promulgation.

It’s commitment to free movement of refugees notwithstanding, during fiscal year 2015, the state accepted all of seven refugees, according to data from the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Only one jurisdiction, the District of Columbia, accepted fewer.

Webmaster's Commentary:

While the corporate media continues to push that this is a Muslim ban, the truth is that anyone of ANY religion attempting to travel from these specific nations will have an equal amount of trouble crossing the border. Christian, Muslim, Jew, Pastafarian, Atheist; all are equal in the eyes of the law, and in this case, the law is on Trump's side.

8 U.S. Code § 1182 states...

(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline.

Coco Palms to be restored by 2018

The demolition phase of Coco Palms is closer to being completed.

Construction crews took a break for the holidays and went back to work last Monday, said Tyler Greene, co-owner of Coco Palms Hui, Inc.

If all goes to plan, demolition will be wrapped up in 60 days, he said.

As part of the $3.5 million selective-demolition project, the Queen’s Audience Hall and parking garage will remain intact. By not leveling the hotel, representatives hope to keep the integrity of the structures.

Demolition included tearing out the drywall, making mechanical and electrical repairs, clearing out the Lotus Restaurant and elevating the bungalow buildings so they adhere to Federal Emergency Management standards.

The demolition permit, which was issued in October, doesn’t expire. And while the county is monitoring the progress of the project, there’s no deadline to finish the project, said Mike Dahilig, director of the county Planning Department.

No End in Sight for a Hawaii Volcano’s Ocean Lava Show

Off the coast of the island of Hawaii, lava is flowing into the ocean like blood from a ruptured artery. From the Kilauea volcano’s Kamokuna ocean entry, it hits the salty water and explodes. Molten rock shoots upward and outward. A steamy cloud of acid rises from below. Beneath the ocean’s surface, lava cools. Rubble forms.

Normally it stacks up, creating a rocky shelf on which the lava settles: a lava delta. But this time, the flow has continued to gush nearly 100 feet down, into the sea, for a whole month.

Zuckerberg: 'We are dropping our quiet title actions'

A few years ago, Priscilla and I visited Kaua`i and fell in love with the island. We kept coming back with family and friends, and eventually decided to plant roots ourselves. We bought land near Pila'a and our family is dedicated to preserving its wildlife and natural beauty.

We've heard from many in the community and learned more about the cultural and historical significance of this land. Over the past week, we've spoken with community leaders and shared that our intention is to achieve an outcome that preserves the environment, respects local traditions, and is fair to those with kuleana lands.

To find a better path forward, we are dropping our quiet title actions and will work together with the community on a new approach. We understand that for native Hawaiians, kuleana are sacred and the quiet title process can be difficult. We want to make this right, talk with the community, and find a better approach.

Mark Zuckerberg drops suits to force sale of Hawaiian lands

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife are dropping controversial suits they filed in December to buy small plots of land that are part of a 700-acre waterfront estate they own on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

In a letter published in The Garden Island, a local newspaper, Zuckerberg wrote of the complex legal tangle, "it's clear we made a mistake."

Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan bought the 700-acre waterfront estate on Kauai for $100 million in 2014. In December 2016, they filed eight lawsuits against several hundred people to buy 13 plots on eight acres partitioned during the 1850s.

Ownership of some of the plots was unclear, crossing multiple generations and many heirs. According to Zuckerberg's letter, some have had no inhabitants for decades. Others come with complex legal land agreements dating back more than 160 years.

Unfortunately, there was just one little problem with the purchase...technically the sellers didn't own the title to all of that land due to the so-called Kuleana Act, a Hawaiian law established in 1850 that for the first time gave natives the right to own the land that they lived on.

It’s unclear what that process will look like.

Zuckerberg acquired the land as a personal home, but also because he says he cares about preserving the environment and local wildlife. Local Hawaiians aren’t thrilled with Zuckerberg’s plan, and hundreds were planning to march this weekend in protest of Zuckerberg and his private residence, according to Business Insider.

America Has A Moral Obligation To Help Rebuild The Ravaged Middle East

“Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none” - Thomas Jefferson

It is unfortunately incumbent upon the new administration to also pay the proverbial bill, and to fix and rectify the mistakes of the past.

It would be altogether grossly irresponsible and cruel to now leave the entire world in smoke and shambles, burning embers of once great civilizations that have often existed for thousands of years uninterrupted and unmolested.

Trump’s First Big Mistake – Justin Raimondo

Syrian “safe zones”: a disaster waiting to happen

This idea is a disaster waiting to happen, and could augur the unraveling of the President’s “America First” foreign policy, which supposedly abjures regime change operations in the Middle East and elsewhere. In 2013 testimony submitted to Congress by then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey, the reality of what this would have to mean was outlined:

“Thousands of U.S. ground forces would be needed, even if positioned outside Syria, to support those physically defending the zones. A limited no-fly zone coupled with US ground forces would push the costs over one billion dollars per month.”

Trump signs five more orders on pipelines, steel and environment

"This is about streamlining the incredibly cumbersome, long, horrible, permitting process"

President Trump signed five more executive actions Tuesday in a blitz of executive power meant to speed approvals of high-profile energy and infrastructure projects, including two controversial pipeline projects in the upper Midwest.

Trump signed two presidential memoranda intended to expedite the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, but also signed three more longer-term and sweeping directives requiring American-made steel and changing the process of approving and regulating future pipeline and infrastructure projects.

From Yin to Yang – Pussy Riot–3, in Washington

The ascent of Donald Trump is more than a change of tenant of the White House on 1600, Pennsylvania Ave. It is a momentous swing from Yin to Yang, from dark feminine to bright masculine paradigm, from Cybele to Christ. Tremendous resistance to the regime change proves its unique importance.

Pussy Riot–3, in Washington, another obscene attempt to use women and their bodies for political and religious anti-Christian purposes.

If you prefer a more up-to-date comparison, this is a new Pussy Riot. Perhaps you remember there was a Russian group of that name. They were anti-Putin like the American lot is anti-Trump; they blasphemed like their American counterparts; they were guided and supported by Louise “Madonna” Ciccone, who starred in Washington threatening to blow up the White House.

Trump’s Inaugural Address Was Like No Other in History

He is rich enough, and independent enough, and cantankerous enough that he may not get stuck in the swamps of political compromise.

Donald Trump’s inaugural address is going to go down in history as one of the great ones.I say this as a man with 59 years of public speaking experience and a Ph.D. in American history.

Trump’s speech was different from any previous inaugural address. He spoke directly to his political base. He did not try to pull the country together in some kind of vague, pie-in-the-sky, common-ground political rhetoric. He threw down the gauntlet from the very beginning. Standing in front of the Capitol building, surrounded by former Presidents and politicians, he said that everything they had done in the past has been a way to extract power from the American people and to feather their own nests. This, of course, is exactly what they have done. Nobody had ever said this before in an inaugural address.

MARK ZUCKERBERG SUES HUNDREDS OF HAWAII FAMILIES TO FORCE THEM TO SELL THEIR LAND

Suit an attempt to make his 700-acre beachfront estate more private, according to reports. Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly suing Hawaiian families who have ancestral rights to land within his $100 million (£81.2 million) property in a bid to force them to sell their plots.

The Facebook founder has launched the legal action in an attempt to make his 700-acre beachfront estate on the Island of Kauai more private.

Under legislation dating back to 1850 known as the Kuleana Act, almost a dozen native families currently have the right to live on small sections of land within the billionaire's property on the island, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

Trump’s Declaration of War – Paul Craig Roberts

If truth can be said, President Trump has declared a war far more dangerous to himself than if he had declared war against Russia or China.

Trump made it abundantly clear that Americans’ enemies are right here at home: globalists, neoliberal economists, neoconservatives and other unilateralists accustomed to imposing the US on the world and involving us in endless and expensive wars, politicians who serve the Ruling Establishment rather than the American people, indeed, the entire canopy of private interests that have run America into the ground while getting rich in the process.

Zuckerberg Sues Hawaiians to Force Sale of Land for His $100 Million Estate

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is suing hundreds of native Hawaiians in an attempt to force them to sell plots of land that they have owned for centuries located around Zuckerberg’s 700 acre estate.

Zuckerberg’s estate situated in Kauai is worth over $100 million, but a few small plots of land situated on the property belong to Hawaiian citizens who received the land due to legislation called the Kuleana Act which was introduced after Hawaii’s 1848 Great Mahele, a land redistribution decision that enabled private ownership of land by Hawaiian citizens.

What this means is that the Hawaiian citizens that own the land are free to walk through Zuckerberg’s estate. This has led to Zuckerberg choosing to sue the landowners in an attempt to force them to sell their property.

Mark Zuckerberg sues to protect HIS privacy: Facebook CEO in legal battle to force hundreds of native Hawaiians who have ancestral rights to patches of his vast $100m estate to sell up

Mark Zuckerberg is suing Hawaiian families in an attempt to get them to sell their land to make his 700-acre property more secluded, a Honolulu newspaper reported Wednesday.

Almost a dozen of small parcels on the Facebook co-founder's $100 million Kauai property belong to Hawaiian citizens who acquired them through legislation dating back to 1850, called the Kuleana Act, according to the Star Advertiser.

As such, these land owners are allowed to walk through Zuckerberg's domain. But the billionaire is believed to have filed lawsuits against a few hundred people in the hope that they will sell their parcels at a public auction.

Having a blast: Moment hundreds of tonnes of molten lava spews into the sea in front of stunned tourists on a boat trip

The moment hundreds of tonnes of molten lava spewed from a collapsed volcano and into the sea was captured by a stunned tourist on a boat just yards away.
Kamokuna lava delta in Hawaii collapsed on December 31 but that has not stopped holidaymakers braving the choppy seas and deadly eruptions to catch a glimpse of the scenery.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To correct the corporate media presstitute, the volcano has NOT collapsed. A section of lava bench on the southern edge fell off. If the volcano itself were to collapse into the sea, I could surf the resulting wave all the way back to Califor .... I would drown.

Trump, Kissinger and Ma playing on a crowded chessboard

Place your bets on who will be the major partner in the Trump, Kissinger and Ma law firm.

Kissinger has drafted a plan to officially recognize Crimea as part of Russia and lift the Obama administration’s economic sanctions.

The plan fits into Kissinger’s overall strategy — call it a traditional British Balance of Power, or Divide and Rule, approach — of breaking up the Eurasian front (Russia-China-Iran) that constitutes the real “threat” to what Mattis defines as the “established world order.”

Lawmaker calls for action after human feces found at Honolulu war memorials

Some are calling a tribute to Hawaii's war dead an embarrassment to the state after a lawmaker found homeless people using Hawaii's Korean and Vietnam War Memorial as an open latrine.

Each name etched into the black granite wall represents a life lost in service to the United States.

Extending 100 feet, the Korean and Vietnam War Memorial is place of reflection for hundreds of Hawaii's families.

But lately many of the people who visit don't come to pay their respects.

"The homeless are nesting there and defecating there because it provides a degree of concealment," said state Rep. Bob McDermott, whose district includes Ewa Beach.

Can Trump Fix the Economy In 2017?

Paul Craig Roberts (born April 3, 1939) is an American economist, journalist, blogger and former civil servant. He reached the height of his government career when he became the United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy under President Reagan in 1981.

Dr. Roberts elucidates how Trump can fix the the Economy.

I cannot assure you that Trump is not another fake like Obama. But it is a mistake to begin with this assumption. Why write off in advance the only person with the courage to put his life on the line and take on the corrupt and evil Washington establishment?

Cold war drama fizzling fast

“It wouldn’t be a bad opening for a Tom Clancy novel about the Cold War” – that’s how the Los Angeles Times described the sequence of events leading up to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats (“spies”) and the latest face-off between Washington and Moscow.

Indeed the whole episode of has about it a fictional aura, which is, after all, only appropriate, since the entire basis of this latest cold war drama is pure invention.

The Establishment Is Trying To Steal The Presidency From Trump And the Liberal-Left Is Helping

Where is the liberal-left’s moral conscience?

The US military, the CIA, and their whores in the US media are undemocratically pursuing their own agenda independent of the policy of the president-elect.

We could dismiss Trump’s admission as throwing a bone to the CIA so they can feel vindicated and get off his back, and the statements by Tillerson and Mattis could be dismissed as what has to be said in order to be confirmed.

US Intel Agencies Try to Strong-Arm Trump Into War with Russia

The big shots who run the country are trying to strong-arm ‘the Donald’ into carrying their water so the depredations can continue...

Powerful elites are using the credibility of the US Intelligence agencies to demonize Russia and prepare the country for war.

Last week’s 25-page report, that was released by the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, illustrates to what extent intelligence is being “fixed around the policy”.

The Intelligence Community has been coerced into compromising its credibility to incite fear of Russia and to advance the geopolitical ambitions of deep state powerbrokers.

Risks and Opportunities for 2017

Just a few days into 2017 and we can already say with a great degree of confidence that 2017 will be a historical year. Furthermore, I submit that 2017 will be the “Year of Trump” because one of roughly three things will happen: either Trump will fully deliver on his threats and promises, or Trump deliver on some, but far from all, his threats and promises or, finally, Trump will be neutralized by the Neocon-run Congress, media, intelligence community. He might even be impeached or murdered.

Of course, there is an infinity of sub-possibilities here, but for the purpose of this discussion I will call the first option “Trump heavy”, the second one “Trump light” and the third one “Trump down”.

Hawaii’s Thirty Meter Telescope Suffers New Legal Setback

On Friday, Hawaii Circuit Court Judge Greg Nakamura ordered a new contested case hearing regarding the University of Hawaii at Hilo's sublease to TMT International Observatory, saying that Hawaii's Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) violated the constitutional rights of resident E. Kalani Flores by approving the sublease without first holding a contested case hearing as requested by Flores in 2014, according to NBC affiliate Hawaii News Now.

"Judge Nakamura's ruling reaffirms our position that the BLNR's actions have failed to protect Native Hawaiian rights and the public's interest in these public lands of Mauna a Wakea," Flores said in a statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I understand the Native Hawaiians' concerns. And if we were talking about a sewage treatment plant or fertilizer factory I would agree it should go somewhere else.

But here is something to consider. Native Hawaiians view those volcanoes as the home of Madam Pele, who is already wearing a crown of the most amazing jewels science can produce.

But all crowns deserve a crown jewel, a Kohinoor, and the 30 meter telescope represents the finest technological accomplishment that will complement Pele's regalia!

I think Pele herself, being after all a woman, would approve of this added "bling!"

The Neocon’s declaration of war against Trump

This is a political coup d’etat...an attempt at removing Donald Trump from the White House.

After several rather lame false starts, the Neocons have now taken a step which can only be called a declaration of war against Donald Trump.

It all began with CNN published an article entitled “Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him”

Within one short week we went from allegations of “Russian hacking” to “having a traitor sitting in the White House”

Obama’s ‘Farewell To Arms’ As War Presidency Ends

Self-declared liberal Americans consider Bush to be a warmongering disaster, yet somehow they hail Obama as some kind of progressive «peace president».

Eight straight years of warmongering come to an end as US President Barack Obama bows out with his «farewell to the nation» speech this week, as fawning American media dubbed his valediction.

In reality, Obama’s outgoing address should have been billed as a «farewell to arms» made by arguably one of the most belligerent presidents to ever have occupied the White House.

Only in exceptionally delusional America could such a pernicious paradox be presented as something honorable and sentimental.

If anti-Trump American forces are behind untrue allegations of this magnitude, those forces are the primary enemies of US national security and should be investigated fully and publicly.

Cohen raises the following issues, which he and Batchelor discuss:

Two conflicting interpretations are suggested, says Cohen. Either Trump is about to become a potentially seditious American president. Or powerful US forces are trying to destroy his presidency before it begins, perhaps even prevent him from taking office.

The Unethical Tactics Of The Chemical Industry To Silence The Truth

Hawaii is a hot bed for the research and development of new chemically intensive GMOs and they are a testing ground for many experimental chemicals and crops – it is essentially “ground-zero”. Five of the largest chemical companies are suing the counties of Hawaii to keep their testing secret. Much of the work that Hawaii CFS is doing is focusing on the public health impacts of the pesticides and herbicides used on GMOs, and because of this, they are heavily targeted by the biotech companies who are profiting off of these chemicals and technologies. In 2015, over 100 Monsanto employees crashed a CFS presentation in Hawaii in an attempt to intimidate the presenters. This is how biotech operatives operate, and CFS is very aware of their tactics. The people that work with CFS are very well respected and fearless activists in an increasingly aggressive climate.

2016: The Year of Russia’s Triumph – The Saker

2016 has been a fantastic year for Russia. Putin’s policy of slow, low-key and deliberate move and counter-move has proven to be extremely effective.

Just like European maps place Europe in the center of the planet, so do most western commentators look at the past year from a US/Europe-centered perspective. Which is fair enough. Furthermore, the AngloZionist Empire has just suffered two major disasters, the Brexit and the election of Trump.

The credit for the election of Donald Trump goes first and foremost to the American people to whom I sincerely believe the entire planet owe a heartfelt and loud “THANK YOU!!!!!”.

Not only did the British people defy the Empire and vote for a Brexit, but now the Imperial Homeland has “backstabbed” them by electing a patriot who is not interested in maintaining the global empire (or so he says, at least for the time being).

Putin’s Bear to Obama’s Turkey

Putin's stoic statesmanship speaks for itself.

Not for the first time, the contrast in character between Putin and Obama was illustrated in the latest diplomatic spat over alleged Russian hacking.

For one thing, Putin’s gracious magnanimity always in the face of American provocations shows the Russian leader to be a fine statesman and human being; whereas Obama looks like a pathetic, cheap nonentity.

President Putin made a surprise attack:

He said that his government would not take retaliatory measures. Indeed, he went further by offering seasonal goodwill greetings to President Obama, his family and the people of America, as well as repeating invitations to the children of accredited US diplomats in Russia to festivities being held at the Kremlin.

What is Henry Kissinger Up To? — Paul Craig Roberts

Until Trump relegates 'the neocons' to the ideological backwaters, Russia and China had best hold on to their strategic alliance.

Kissinger, an old cold warrior, is working to use Trump’s commitment to better relations with Russia in order to separate Russia from its strategic alliance with China.

China’s military buildup is a response to US provocations against China and US claims to the South China Sea as an area of US national interests. China does not intend to attack the US and certainly not Russia.

Hawaiian cafe backs down over ban on Trump voters

A business owner who posted a sign on the entrance of his eccentric Italian café in downtown Honolulu banning President Elect Donald Trump supporters, has removed the sign one day after FoxNews.com broke a story about the severe policy.

“If you voted for Trump you cannot eat here! No Nazis,” declared owner Robert Warner on a bright yellow, handmade sign, which he taped to his Café 8/12’s front glass door.

"This is my place and if I don't want to serve a Trump person, I can do that," he told Hawaii News Now on Wednesday, one day after the FoxNews.com report generated thousands of adverse posts in the story comment section as well as on Yelp, Twitter and Facebook.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Too late. I'm not in a forgiving mood right now. That sign on the door was not only an insult to the 30% of Hawaiians who voted for Trump, it has damaged the global image of the State of Hawaii as "The Aloha State!" Café 8 1/2 will not see me as a customer, ever.

'You cannot eat here': Hawaii café riles residents with ban on Trump voters

Honolulu resident and Donald Trump voter Susan Roberts told FoxNews.com she found the sign in “extreme poor taste.”

Willes Lee, former chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party and now president of National Federation of Republican Assemblies, told FoxNews.com the sign is discriminatory, and harkens back to “racist and hate-filled” days before statehood.
